TM 30, or not TM 30, that is the question.

Many things said about this.

 

I do understand that new  TM 30 is required in most cases, re entry permit or not.

 

But some things are not clear. I have registered my adress, as owner, with yellow book and other papers. I register my guests on line, without any problem. 

I have registration in my passport. 

 

But going to Jomtien immigration,  I heard them to give people hard time now over TM 30. Before, when  I went abroad, I went to immigration and was said, not to do new TM 30.

 

So I went to Vietnam in June and had reentry on my retirement visa. To have no problem, as owner, I registered TM 30 again for myself, and all OK. 

 

Renewing my visa, I got my passport back, with no new TM 30, but still the registration I did with yellow book years ago.

 

Now I am out of the country and come back. So do I, with the reentry permit, and as registered owner have to register myself, or is this not necessary?

 

Some will say,  just do it, easy cake.  But the downside, that after having new TM 30, is that I have to go for TM 47, to immigration, instead of doing it on line. You cannot do your TM 47 on line, after having new TM 30.

 

So if I not have to take new TM 30, would save me to go to immigration after 3 months again, instead of doing it on line.

Okay this is what I know to be mostly true 😉 at least at Chaengwattana in Bangkok 😜 , (your mileage at your immigration office may vary)  

1 - you need to file a new TM30 when you come in from abroad even if you're staying at the same address you had a previous TM30 filed at  

2 - you have to file your first 90 day report in person after coming back from abroad.

3 - the TM30 system and the TM47 system cross check against passport and registered address

4 - if there is a mismatch you'll get rejected.

5 - the new window of opportunity to file a 90 day report online is from 2 weeks before down until 1 week BEFORE the due date <- you have only a 7 day window (people were rejected applying after the 7 day before their due date new cut off)

SO my advice to @indieke is IF you have a log in to the online TM30 program FILE a new TM30 every time you come into the country, export the PDF receipt file and print it.
 

There are reports that not every office is enforcing the "must do the first 90 day report returning from abroad in person" rule as some people did come back, file new TM30's and then were able to file online 90 day reporting thru the TM47 online portal. All you can do is try it.    
 

Again this is my direct experience with BANGKOK immigrations at Chaengwattana in both the TM30 section (Section B) and the TM47 section (Section A). As I said, your mileage may vary

Was not previously required since June 2020.

Now since trying to marry online reporting with TM30 things have changed.

You have good summary above of the current situation.

 

Personally I don't bother with it.

I travel fair bit so actually don't need to TM47 often and when I do I use mail option. 

Recently did a 90 report in person (Nov 5) since I was at CW for annual extension.

I didn't give the io a TM30 for the 90 report. 

Nor a previous TM47 receipt for most recent report. 

OP, perhaps Jomitien is convenient for you. I would never make trip to CW just to do a 90 report.

Not sure where you got this reduced 7 day window from but to file a 90 day report in person is within 15 days of due date and that is the same timeframe indicated in the TM47 online application user manual

What is that as it doesnt look formal at all? Is it just a sign in one rougue office as the online user manual clearly says to submit within 15 days?

Also looks like they maybe confused the "can apply 7 days after with no fine rule" which cannot be done online in that 7 day window

To OP:   In October this year, I did the TM30 for the first time at Immo/CW.

 

I told the officer that I was going out of the country for ten days at the end of October. 

 

I asked if I would have to come in to do another TM30 report.

 

She said that I would only have to do a new TM30 if my address in Bangkok changed or the type of visa/extension changed.

I think most agree this change, the online reporting window reduced to 7 days, was made recently. 

 

No issues if you think otherwise.
