Motorcyclist Crashes into Parked Truck and Cries for Help Before Passing Away

Police officers from Pho Klang Police Station received a report at approximately 09.15 on December 17, of a motorcycle crashing into the back of a truck near the Mittraphap Pattana intersection, within the Nakhon Ratchasima Municipality, Mueang District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province. Authorities immediately responded to the scene alongside rescue volunteers from Hook 31 Korat.

 

The crash occurred on Liab Nakhon Road, near the railway crossing leading to Wat Lak Roi. At the scene, a black Yamaha Fino motorcycle, registered in Nakhon Ratchasima, was found wedged at the rear of a six-wheeled truck. The motorcyclist, identified as Mr. Somporn  aged 57, was trapped beneath the truck’s right rear.

 

Initial examination found no vital signs, and he had multiple fractures and severe injuries. Rescue personnel used cutting tools to extract the body, which was then sent to Maharat Nakhon Ratchasima Hospital for further forensic examination.

 

Mr. Nattapong aged 36, the truck driver, explained that he had parked the vehicle alongside the road to purchase a mobile phone top-up card at a nearby convenience store. While he was pulling the truck back onto the road, Mr. Somporn, who was riding his motorcycle alone, lost control and crashed into the rear of the truck. Mr. Nattapong said he initially thought cargo had fallen from the truck due to the loud noise but discovered it was a crash upon inspection. He promptly notified the authorities.

 

Eyewitnesses reported that they saw the truck parked with its hazard lights on while the driver entered the store. As the truck began to move, the motorcycle approached at high speed from under the Si Ma Thani overpass, heading towards Ban Mai Subdistrict. The motorcycle collided with the rear of the truck, and witnesses heard Mr. Somporn crying for help. Locals tried to assist but found him trapped, prompting a call for emergency services. Tragically, Mr. Somporn succumbed to his injuries before further help could arrive.

 

Authorities will conduct a thorough investigation to determine the exact cause of the incident.

Did the truck signal before re-entering the road, or just enter the lane without a care in the world? Hazards are for parking, not for entering back into a lane of traffic. See this dumb move a lot here, again, lack of training or proper testing, and no enforcement.

Just checked the area and all the roads are quite narrow two lane.

So quite sure the truck simply parked blocking the lane like it or not, allowed or not.

So it does not make a big difference whether he was already moving or not.

Just another speeding bike rider overlooking(!) a parked or slow moving truck.
