At approximately 07:30 on December 19, the Saichon Rescue Radio Centre in Chumphon received a report of a pickup truck that had fallen into a roadside canal along the newly constructed Nong Som road in Bang Luk Subdistrict, Mueang District, Chumphon.

Upon arrival, rescue personnel found the vehicle, with the front end submerged in the canal. Rescuers immediately inspected the scene and discovered that a person was still inside, clearly dead. They coordinated with local police officers to obtain authorisation to pull the truck out of the water. Volunteers and a tow truck worked for about 30 minutes before successfully retrieving the vehicle.

Inside the pickup truck, authorities found the lifeless body of a 51-year-old male who was believed to have been deceased for over five hours. Identification documents found at the scene revealed the deceased to be the village headman of Moo 3, Thung Kha Subdistrict, Mueang District, Chumphon.

A forensic doctor, along with law enforcement officials, conducted a preliminary examination at the scene. The body was then transported by Saichon Rescue personnel to Chumphon Khet Udomsak Hospital for further autopsy and investigation as per the doctor’s directive.

Authorities are continuing their investigation into the cause of the crash.
