A family escaped death by breaking out through a window after a landslide caused their house to collapse into the Bang Pakong River early morning on December 19. The incident has left five households affected, with local authorities scrambling to assist residents in relocating their belongings.

 

The landslide, reported at 03:00 occurred along the riverbank near the old health station alley, beside Wat Saen Phudas, Moo 2, Saen Phudas Subdistrict, Ban Pho District, Chachoengsao. One house was completely destroyed as it slid into the river, while another tilted and suffered severe structural damage. Three additional homes are at risk, with visible cracks along the riverbank threatening further collapses.

 

Fifteen residents across five affected households are struggling to recover from the destruction. Rescue teams and officials have been dispatched to assist in evacuating people and salvaging possessions.

 

Preliminary investigations suggest that the cause of the landslide stems from uncoordinated construction of stone embankments and riverbank protection walls. The piecemeal efforts created water eddies and altered the river’s flow, causing erosion to penetrate deep into unprotected areas of the village.

 

Authorities are assessing the damage and considering long-term solutions to prevent further incidents. Affected residents have called for urgent government intervention to address the immediate risks posed by the unstable
