The body of 59-year-old Mr. Sunan Joamrit, who had been missing for four days, was found on December 19, in the Pak Hai Canal in the Kanchanadit district of Surat Thani province.

Mr. Sunan, a resident of the area, was last seen on December 16, when he was attempting to swim across the canal during a period of heavy rain and flash floods. His disappearance had sparked an intensive search operation involving local authorities, community leaders, and volunteers.

The search began after reports confirmed Mr. Sunan had gone missing when the floodwaters surged. Despite the efforts of search teams, no trace of him was found until December 19, when residents of Moo 2, Baan Muang Leap, reported seeing a body along the canal bank. The body was discovered at around 09:00 approximately 15 kilometres from the point where Mr. Sunan had been last seen.

The body was identified as Mr. Sunan, who was wearing black clothing and military-style pants. Following the discovery, police and rescue workers were dispatched to the scene. The body was sent to Kanchanadit Hospital for autopsy and further investigation.

The search operation was conducted in two teams. The first group started from the previous day’s search area, while the second group focused on a wider 2-3 km radius. Despite covering a total distance of about 15 km, the search team was unable to locate Mr. Sunan until the final breakthrough on December 19.
