Saudia Airlines - Choose Carefully

A carrier that has such rules - which are not the norm in air transport, should in my opinion, make it quite clear that they do not serve alcohol.  Many Arab states have quite stiff alcohol laws but often relax them for foreigners. I've never been to Saudi and have no particular wish to go there so I knew nothing of their laws. I'm not in the habit of carrying out a root and branch investigation into an airline before I book a flight. Every other airline I've ever flown with, has served alcohol, why should I think Saudia would be any different?

Being ultra polite but thats beyond naive it really is

  • I'd rather visit more often thanks. Business class is great but its not worth 3 times the price in my opinion. Economy mixed with no queues and lounge access is perfecty adequate for me.

  • "To add to that there is no alcohol allowed on the flight and none in the lounges"   How could you possibly book on the flag carrier of Saudi Arabia without being aware of that?

  • I wouldn't transit via Saudi Arabia, nor anywhere in the Middle East for any reason. Full stop. There are other routes and other transit routes. But, maybe that's just me.

No you're not, you're quite simply being an a hole and that's the long and short of it.  If you think that all travellers check out whether an airline serves alcohol before booking with them then you are living in an alternative universe.

Dont be so utterly uber stupid fella !!

Very few airlines dont serve alcohol but a person with an IQ of 7 would tell you that those that dont are very likely to be carriers from Muslim countries and definately Saudi Arabia

I can only think of Biman Bangledesh that I flew on twice way back that didnt have booze as standard and that was economic related not because of any restrictions......Oman Eithad Emirates Gulf Qatar all serve booze as standard despite being from same region as SA

I suggest you get out a bit more Ryanair and Easyjet dont fly to Thailand as yet

If you're so desperate for alcohol choose Eva Thai British airways etc etc

Flew Saudia March 2024.  Back and leg issues so Biz Class.  From check in, comfort, quality, on time transit, Movies, entertainment, food great, service all good or above average.

Only thing in Jeddah the airport was confusing a one junction, American said been through handful of times and agrees.  There was a second security check before boarding terminal.

Seems travelers on this forum don't realize you can have a few drinks prior to departing at airports in countries that allow alcohol.

Just DON'T consume excessive amounts or to a level where you become a nuisance to others. It is rare but you could have problems or be charge under Saudia alcohol laws when landing in Saudia
