Wow the fine is now 750 that's funny because the Chalong police are changing 10,000 so look at all the money they are pocketing, this country is becoming more of a joke everyday these politicians are only in it for the money the police are more then happy to stand on the side of the roads and shack down the Farangs for money everyday.

Brit' overturned his car few months back outside our gate......scum.

Crawled out of the rear window that had popped out......drunk as a skunk...... and immediately demanded no one was to phone the police.....

and did you not phone the police? Were you scared from a drunk man? I would have grabbbed him and got the wife to call the police.

Yawn. Same same, different year.

We've heard the following before ad nauseam, but only proper driving tests, real enforcement (many cops will DUI home), MASSIVE penalties and a better regard for life (put it out that there is no reincarnation) will curb it. The current licensing thing every 5 years is a joke, a monumental waste of time and monies which in itself causes more accidents and does not educate drivers one iota. Not bashing Thailand, it just is what it is and this type of tripe needs a response.

OMG, you totally nailed it!

If Thailand had a proper one time driving test for life, same as most civilised nations, the road fatality rate would plummet.

How can they expect a larger fine for DUI, if the driver has spent it all on wallop?

The Police are good at improvising fine amounts

Totally wrong. If a driver had to take a test every say 10 years, things might get safer everywhere in the World.

Driving conditions and road rules change constantly, as does the health of the driver.

In UK, at 70, you fill in a form to say 'Yes I can read a car's number plate, I am 100% fit to drive' That's it.
