Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok is poised to handle over 200,000 passengers on New Year's Day, according to the Airports of Thailand (AOT). As the world prepares to usher in a new year, Thai authorities are meticulously coordinating efforts to ensure a seamless experience for the influx of travellers.

With bustling crowds anticipated, Suvarnabhumi Airport's executive team, led by Keerati Kitmanawat, has mobilised resources to offer both security and convenience for departing passengers. This includes setting up Airport Help centres to assist individuals with using the Common Use Self Service and the Common Use Bag Drop systems.

Furthermore, passengers are encouraged to register for facial scan biometrics to streamline their journey through the airport.

The airport's measures aim to prevent delays and enhance safety. Comprehensive security protocols are in place, with stringent patrols throughout the terminal to maintain order.

This collaborative effort involves coordination with government officials, airlines, and various stakeholders to prioritise passengers' safety and experience.

Beyond security, Suvarnabhumi is embracing the spirit of the New Year by offering gifts to passengers. Those travelling through the fourth-floor departure terminal can look forward to receiving Travel Kit sets as a token of goodwill.

Additionally, complimentary drinks will be available at various spots, adding a touch of warmth and hospitality during transit.

Keerati Kitmanawat expressed that Suvarnabhumi Airport is ready to welcome tourists from across the globe with open arms. The airport's broader vision is to elevate its service to meet world-class standards.

Within five years, the goal is to rank among the global elite in airport services, a testament to Thailand's commitment to enhancing its infrastructure and service delivery.

This influx of passengers reflects a revived enthusiasm for travel, as borders are more open and people are eager to explore. It also marks a significant milestone for Thailand's tourism sector, which is steadily regaining its momentum.

As 2024 dawns, both the airport authorities and passengers are hopeful for a prosperous and safe year ahead. The efficient handling of this surge will be crucial, not just for Suvarnabhumi's reputation, but for Thailand's image as a leading tourist destination, reported The Nation.

I flew in on Monday and encountered the worst queue I've had in my 20 recent monthly visits.  It was still only 25 minutes, and I beat my bag to the luggage carousel.  I remember when I used to cross my fingers it would be less than an hour in the immigration queue.  Post Covid, I've been averaging 5 minutes.

On my way out early on Friday morning, there was no queue at departure immigration, or airport security.

They're doing a lot of things right as far as I'm concerned.
