I currently have 400k+ in Bangkok Bank and plan to transfer another 400k+ for my first renewal, due in June 2025.

My branch is located in a very inconvenient area of Ranong with limited parking, so I’d like to move my IM requirements to SCB Bank, which is in a shopping center I frequent regularly and is far more convenient.

Given that my Immigration Office can be arbitrarily pedantic, I’m seeking a simple way to make the switch.

Also, are there any differences between the two banks in terms of obtaining statements, bank letters, or other required documents for immigration purposes?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

While still in the 400k window open the new account.

You mention SCB. That's fine. Personally I would consider Kasikorn.

In any event just prior to needing the 800k to satisfy the two months prior to application.....transfer the 400k into the new account.

After that is deposited transfer or withdraw the 400k you have in existing account and place into new account.

Immigration will want to see bank statements and bank letters and bank books from both accounts on day of application

Note: BBL is only bank (to my knowledge) that requires few days to provide annual bank statement. I would for that reason alone skip them

There are two branches in Ranong, which one you are using? One is in Town Center and the other one in Saphan Pla close to the Ferries.

I am also changing accounts for my next extension in May '25.  I kept 800k+ in account 1 for the required 3 months, then allowed it to drop to 400k at the same time having 400k in account 2, with several months overlap.  I'll now ensure account 2 is at 800k until extension time.

SCB should be able to produce the required 12 month statement on the spot rather that needing several days to produce as per Bangkok bank.  Bear in mind you need statement/documents from both banks for your next extension.

I am using the one in the main city market in Khao Niwet.

As I live in Kra Buri normally I only venture to shops on Phet Kasem Road and to IM when I have to.

I never knew there was a Bangkok Bank 1 km further down the road from IM, never been on the ferries. Not many farang locals in Ranong. Thanks

Have you been there recently, there's a branch shown on Google in Lotus but that's been closed down?
