Also not, an IDP (permit not license) is not required for Americans as the Driving / Riding license is already in English.

Why ? most riders trained overseas are far better educated to ride safely.

Additionally, a rider could have decades of experience here and a pedestrian could step out in front of them at the last second at any time, training is somewhat moot when that happens.

Not sure though, if the rider in question was trained at one of these academies.

In Thailand, I don't think there's anyone to train motorcycle riders.

In the US, it is the Motorcycle Safety Foundation. Even experienced riders may benefit from some of the courses they offer. Successful completion of the basic course should be a requirement for applicants for new motorcycle licenses.

The term "dirt bike" can cover a wide variety of off-road motorcycles, including many that are perfectly road-legal.

The term usually means a motorcycle designed for off-road capabilities whether licensed for road use or not.

I saw that one, too.

And, I found a few academies which offer training.

And, a course should be a requirement.

But, they are not, unfortunately.

Also, maybe up the age to 30 for motorcycle riders.

Of course motorcyclists are trained, they have to pass to complete a Basic Rider Course offered by the Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) or a state-approved equivalent.

Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) Schools provide training for this.

If this incident was not the Americans fault, his 'riding' ** history is irrelevant.

If he somehow lost control of his motorcycle and crashed into the pedestrian on the side of the road, then his 'riding' experience becomes a factor, but this does not seem to be the case.

Though, if someone runs out in front of a rider who has no time to react at all, their experience matters little.

Of course, this remains to be seen - perhaps an experienced rider could 'predict such a hazard' with greater foresight than an inexperienced rider - but the point is still somewhat moot IF this tragic accident was the ladies fault for stepping out into the road without looking.

You just need to be able to pass the very simple test:

SPEED KILLS.

And, it was speed that killed this January, in CM, when the old lady was plowed down by the American.

Unfortunately, there is no black box in these dirt-bikes.

Also, when driving, one needs to ANTICIPATE.....and too few drivers do this.

They just continue at the same speed, and do not adjust their speed for the conditions and environment.

I will not ride with a driver like that.

Complete conjecture on all facets of your comment...

If this motorcyclist was speeding, there would be damage to the bike - however, the absense of damage to the motorcycle suggest it wasn't even dropped... its possible this was a very low impact.

I beg to differ.

For sure, I bought TWO motorcycles, a HONDA 450 and CB450.

I rode them the day they arrived from the dealer.

I had zero training.

I had a car drivers license.

No problem shifting, by the way.

No problems, whatsoever.

And, I knew the rules of the road, having driving cars for three years.

I rode the Honda 450 from the Main Line to Marthas' Vineyard, on toll roads, and on every other kind of road.

Zero problems.

But, I sold it because I rode it full throttle everywhere.

One of us had to go.

And, I decided it would be the Honda, instead of me.
