So, the driver asked for 570 baht for the journey.

Guest does not argue.

The guests were short of Thai money and offered 200 baht + some foreign currency.

Driver said no.

Guest said, please take us to currency exchange and we will change it for you.

Driver says OK - does not mention that the guests have to pay to go and change his money.

Hmm

I can understand why the guests are feeling a tad upset about this one.

Yes, a free Taxi Ride to go change foreign currency because the 2 Heroes not was able to provide Thaibaht in Thailand.....you are a Dreamer:cheesy:

You are ranting and missing the point. The fare is not the issue. They paid the fare, but didn't agree with the extra 200 baht. Instead offering 50 baht. The taxi driver went to his car to retrieve a weapon and the boy ran at him to disarm him.

I don't know if you've been to Thailand before, but negotiations are the norm. It's the taxi driver who escalated to violence.

Please read the article more caefully. The taxi driver said "They refused to pay the fare. They gave me only 50 baht.” What had happened was that the taxi driver was faced with the unpleasant situation of finding a FX shop for these narcissistic youth or not getting paid.  570 baht may not be a lot of money to you but for a bolt driver it may mean the difference of breaking even that night. After wasting time finding them a supermarket, the driver thoght 200 baht was a fair price for the service. I agree.  The arrogrant narcissistic youth thought the driver should be happy with 50 baht. This was an insult.  As you have no empathy for the locals and beleive it's okay to get into a cab without money and then demand the driver to find a FX shop for 50 baht,  I cannot do business with you.   As to your assumption that I have not lived in Thailand that long and do not know how to negotaite with Thais, I will not dignify you with a response.  All can I say if you beleive this is the way to negotiate with locals, you are going to get yourself  knifed or even worse.

And you expect the taxi driver to accept the risk of the notes being counterfeit or invalid due to wear and tear?

I read it and understood it. You only got as far as the reading... and then have just conjured up a silly story.

He was referring to the second part of the journey, for which he wanted them to give him 200 baht. He got at least 620 baht. He was just being greedy and followed up with violence, for which he got instant payback. All confirmed by the article I posted...which obviously you didn't read before posting your ridiculous and unpleasant fantasy.

Another one who is unable to read more than a headline? The application payment system didn't work...hence the need for them to find enough cash.
