Non-O Visa Requirements Doubts

Hi everyone,

 

I am writting this in case someone can help me.

 

I was living in Thailand for 4 years but in 2021 I had to left and now I and my thai wife are planning to come back.

 

I have been checking the requirements for my Non-O visa and I am not clear about some of them:

• I understand I have to provided a copy of Kor Ror 2 and 3 but do they have o be legalized before the applycation of extension? Or is enough to provide just a copy and bring the original documents in order to showing them?
• Regarding the documents showing the financial status I have read in some websites that i have to transfer form overseas the, at least, 400.000 THB but in my case I do no feel safe enough because I have not use my thai bank account for at least 3 years and I lost access so my plan was to activate when I am back in Thaialnd  and bring cash with me. Is that possible?
• Regarding the TM30 I understand is not necessary because I will apply to the extension before the 90 days required, Am I right?

Just to be clear....your plan is to apply for the Non O marriage outside of Thailand. eVisa? 

Which country will you apply for eVisa? 

Then come to Thailand and at some point with 400k in Thai bank account obtain 12 month extension.

My plan would be;

 

Get a non-O e-visa before you leave.  You only need to show the equivalent of 400k in your home country account, together with a copy of your marriage certificate, etc.

 

Sort out a Wise account that you can eventually send money to your Thai account from.

 

Enter and get a 90 day entry.

 

In the 1st 30 days re-activate your bank account, or open a new one, and deposit the required 400k.

 

You will need a TM30 when you extend.  90 days is irrelevant.

I'd get the bank account sorted out (meaning get it activated and get your 400k transferred over) the first week or two you're back as the 400k needs to be seasoned (in your bank) for 60 days prior to your application for an annual extension.  If you do that, you can go apply for your extension early enough so, should a problem with documents or whatever arise, you have plenty of time to go back to resolve the problem.

Seems OP plan is to obtain Non O eVisa. He can show funds in home bank account.

When he enters Thailand with the Non O he be given 90 day stamp.

He then either clears up any issue with old Thai bank account OR simply opens new account.

Won't have an issue as he has a Non O.

He can then transfer funds from abroad.

Many folk use WISE.

Two months later can obtain 12 month extension.

My only comment really related to a timing issue.  Presuming the funds in a Thai bank account need to be in that account for 60 days prior to application for the annual extension, rather unwise to wait until the 30th day to get the account opened/activated and the 400k transferred over.  Make sense?

Thank you guys for your replies. The option of bring with me the money in cash and then put it on in my bank account is not valid then? I know it may be risky but it is another option. Is it mandatory the money come from overseas?

 

@Global Moderator I am from Spain. I have already checked the required documents for getting my Non-O visa in the Thai Embassy here and I think it is easier than the extension. 

 

I have another question: one of the requirements for the extension is:  Copy of house lease agreement, identification and household registration of the owner. If we are living at my wife's apartment I guess this requierement is not needed, right?

The OP now indicates he will obtain the non O eVisa to enter Thailand.

He can sort out the bank account issue straight away.

Either his (dormant Thai account can is still alive or he opens new account.

No issue with Non O status. 

The transfer using WISE or other takes minutes.

On other hand if enters visa exempt and there is an issue with the Thai bank account it will be difficult to open new Thai account.

 

But agree would need to attend to bank account asap after arrival.

Sort that out when you arrive.

No need to do that and bad idea.

As pointed out in other post....even if your old Thai bank is kaput you can easily open new account with the Non O status and transfer safely the funds. Look into WISE.

One suggestion is Kasikorn.

Yes it is needed, but only 2 of the 3 items mentioned,  your wife being the owner you will only need a copy of her ID card and a copy of her Tabien Baan(Blue Book).

Don't forget to address the TM30 issue.

I used to have Kasikorn and I will use it again. Regarding the funds I understand your point that is a bad idea, but in case of doing it is as valid as a international transfer from my overseas bank? I am not the best at technology so I am a bit scared I can't transfer the funds with my mobile app from Thailand.

For extensions funds do NOT need to be shown from abroad.

Even if they were bringing funds in cash would not satisfy that requirement.

 

Regarding your apprehension re transfers from your home country to your Thai bank account....

Despite that you will need to have someone help you with that and become confident.

 

You will also need to advise your home country bank account your plans that will require transfers to Thailand. At some point that will require a Thai cell # in case they need send you OTP. 

 

You need to get across online banking app for pp country bank. 

It's not difficult. But plan ahead.

If the WISE thing is too troublesome or you feel not suitable then discuss with home back alternatives. 

They may suggest bank to bank transfer.

Surely they would have a copy of the declaration that they brought in over 50k from overseas and that would satisfy the "funds from abroad"?

The last time I used wise it took up 10 days to transfer the money to Thailand from the United States

Before that it only took about 30 seconds

So I understand I will have no problems if I bring cash with me, right? Because what I will do before my 90 days expires is an extension, am I right?

 

How about the option of transferring the money to my wife's bank account before my arrival and then she transfers me to my account? Is that possible?

Yes. The funds for extension does not need to come from abroad

Nothing to do with WISE.

The post you were quoting was about bringing funds into Thailand on your person.

Years ago I used to have $10k aud on me. That was the limit without declaration.

You think it is a bad idea in case I lost it or something similar right?

Yes , as stated earlier funds for extension do not need to be shown from abroad.

The send to wife account will work.

 

Re bringing in funds on person ..it's not about loss of funds etc.

It's more about silly way to bring large funds into Thailand

Don't get overwhelmed.

You have Thai wife so there is a conduit there.

Keep in mind as soon as the extension is granted (final stamp) the 400k can be used for whatever..

2 months prior to  next extension you go back up to 400k.

Wash and repeat.

You do not have to show the equivalent of 400,000 baht. I obtained a Non O visa based on marriage last May and I only had £1000 in my UK bank

Guessing he will see the financial requirements for his Non O marriage upon application process

For Getting My NON-O Visa in the Thai Embassy of Spain apparently is not needed this requirement for the Single or Multiple Entry but I think once you are there, in case you want to get the 1 year of extension, it is mandatory to have those 400k THB in a Bank account in Thailand. 

 

So, do you mean getting the first Non-O visa in UK or the 1 year extension in Thailand?

@DrJack54 I prefer to ask in this topic because I do not want to open a new one and spam everybody here but I would like to ask a question.

 

Imagine I land in Thailand on 30 march and I apply for the extension approximately around 30 june. if the extension is succesful until what date It will be? 30 March or 30 june of the next year?

 

I am asking because I have a daughter who should go to school obviously and I have seen the vacation period is between march an may so we would like to use it to travel back to spain for holidays so I guess that will mean a problem with my visa because normally the process takes at least one month, right?

When you enter Thailand eg March 30 with a non O marriage you will receive a 90 day stamp.

You need to apply for extension after funds (400k) seasoned for 2 months. 

You will have an under consideration period to return for final stamp.

It's not from date you entered Thailand.

For the first extension there has always been bit of debate. 

12 months from date of application for extension (that's my vote) or 12 months from end of the 90 day stamp from your non O entry.

@Upnotover may have an opinion
