I can't believe I'm having to justify this but since you have made a point of it, noone is 'victim blaming'.  I think the VAST majority of people (and certainly law enforcement) would agree that walking around with anything expensive in certain parts of most cities is just inviting attention and by extension, potential trouble. It's not a particulalrly sensible thing to do but why don't you give it a bash and see how you get on? If you get mugged, I'll try my best to not blame you after.

So you've gone from "London is perfectly safe" to "What do you expect if you have nice things, just leave them in a safe at home and trade your iPhone 16 for a 10 year old Nokia". I guess that's progress of sorts 😄.

 

Here's an idea, how about we tackle crime instead or changing our lives to cope with the level of criminality?

 

I wouldn't think twice about leaving my phone on the table next to my beer or lunch at a restaurant in Bangkok. In London, as a previous poster experienced, you get admonished by a plain clothes cop because he knows there are 2 muggers with their eye on you across the road. 

 

What a way to live.

You are again arguing for the sake of arguing and I will stick to what I am saying - SOME (but thankfully very few) parts of London are a bit rough and I wouldn't recommend walking through them with thousands of pounds worth of watch on my wrist. And it's just sensible in all parts of the world to keep your phone safe - none of this is rocket science though but you just go ahead with your false equivalents and pearl clutching in an attempt to score points - 'how about we tackle crime instead or changing our lives to cope with the level of criminality' - fantastic suggestion - not sure why you're not heading up the Met with such profound insights.

I'm sure there are a few reasons.

 

1. I do not support DEI hiring policies.

2. I am not infected with the Woke mind virus.

3. I am not Pro Palestine.

4. I believe in applying the law to all groups equally.

5. I wouldn't want to be in the same room as Sadiq Khan.

 

Pretty much rules me out.

Again, I'm not saying there isn't knife crime or crime in general in London, but you would be very unlucky to ever see any never mind experience it.  And yes, I wouldn't recommend brandishing a luxury watch in CERTAIN parts of London but then again I wouldn't be stupid enough to wear a luxury watch walking through Brookly or South LA either. It's called common sense.   

Well, I don't have to be a professional race car driver to be able to tell whether someone can drive either, and it's a well established fact that London has a problem. Now I'm not saying it's happening everywhere all the time, but it is happening! I don't understand why you get upset when people point that out! 

 

Also, it's not just the ghetto areas that have a problem. These people place scouts in the nice shopping areas that look specifically for people with nice watches on, so they can call in their scooter gang that will then take it off them and just because YOU don't see that everyday or never had it happen to you doesn't mean it's not happening at all.
