Adult females wearing pyjama's in the Wet Market, or at every hotel Buffet Breakfast...

Adult females and males wearing designer pijamas while going after their errands in Sukhumvit Asoke and Nana areas, mostly from China, but also Middle East and some from Thailand.

It seems to be perfectly acceptable and even fashionable nowadays.

I think in his case it is far more than just a jockstrap issue. More likely a brain chemical imbalance that resulted in a permanent wedgie.

Meanwhile, I suspect this thread will go on for 10 pages. It is exactly the kind of topic that all the old moaners and whingers on here live for. No offense, but usually that means a high percentage of the posters will be British as well.

I wonder what you'd post if you were trying to give offence.

I thought it strange to suggest ordering a  Civic that I couldn’t test drive!

Was not unusual at garages here in Pattaya some years back. I ended up going to Rayong (about 50kms) by bus to test drive a specific vehicle...........

Next time you buy a flat screen TV, tell them not to open the box, that you don't need it tested before leaving the shop. Take it home and plug it in and turn it on there.

If it doesn't work, pack it all up, lug it back to the shop and ask them to change it ("No have").

I think the annoying part about is that if you actually ask them something they mostly don't know.

Hi folks, as the subject i have been thinking for a while and want to let it go about these bizzare and mostly annoying behavior of our citizens of los

1. when you buy electronics such as 50k baht iphone or a flat screen tv

thai staff open up the brand new phone fiddling with their possibly dirty hands

Shows you that the phone actually starts

then stuffing everything back inside the box like being scratch ain’t their problem

2. When you buy a new car thai staff rides your car without much care then proceeds to put a dirty dealer logo and a big silly ribbon on the bonnet possibly scratching a few  and demands to take a picture as if  they added any value to the sale without making customers annoyed or worried

not to mention the horror stories of their so called after service

like ur taking it to them to get more damages , depreciates and what not

I just strongly feel it’s so bizzare and upsets me when I encounter these moments with the citizens of los and can ruin my mood and day

On the contradictory it’s alright to have some booze with the citizens of los

what ever class they are from

Yes,

same as when you go to a restaurant ..    wait staff hands you a menu then hovers over you to take your order .. like you have already read and memorized it and decided ...  I always tell them  come back in 5 minutes ...after I have time to read and decide.

Having tons of staff follow you throughout the store is also a common practice in China.

What bugs me is seeing all those standing around playing on phones, or following customers around......but yet when you go to checkout there's only one or two registers of the 10 or 12 that are open.

Do you ask them in Thai or English?

Besides, even in English there's multiple words for the same thing. EX: Plasterboard, sheetrock, Gypsum board, drywall.....

I find it's easiest to show them a picture on your phone.

Before the use of mobile phones I used to ask (in Thai) if they speak English as my Thai is definitely limited when it comes to various items. After they hear my question in Thai they would usually all go scurrying off.

Dealerships for all intents and purposes must have a sample to drive!

Take a Valium before you go shopping.

No, I don't want to feel you.

He should take a lot of valium and wash it down with a quart of good whiskey.

When going for a haircut at a new place they always, well mostly, want to take a bunch of photos of of their "good" work.

I don't mind and smile sweetly at the camera, but it's all a bit odd

Something tells me I go to a barber shop, you go to a stylist. Cut my hair, trim my eyebrows, ears and nose hair. Then a full shave. With a 30 baht tip its B150, Same shop same cutter the last 16 years.

Garage in this instance was dealerships.

It would be unusual for many dealerships here to have one of every model of that specific manufacturer to drive - just too many cars. If you have found that to be the case then you have been very lucky.

I mostly use Thai, English and a picture. The picture probably from the website of their own shop. And they often still don't know anything.

This happened to me, too.

TERRIBLE.

Why do they do this?

It's almost as if they are trying to antagonize a good customer.

This happened with a Samsung phone I purchased recently.

Worst experience of my life.

You've lived a sheltered life indeed.

Count your lucky stars.

Years ago i thought it strange to have

new owners(Thai) of a Thai townhouse that we rented to drop 750, 000 bht  and never

ask to look in the inside before they

bought it!

Some Things are very weird!

Costco , Sam’s type store like Makro,

Stocking shelves  with fork trucks ,filling the aisles  up with pallets  during peak customer hours!

Having to purchase spirits during

certain times.

Playing musical chairs at the hospital on demand , to be closer to the attending physician office.

Putting ketchup on pizza.

Drinking beer on the rocks.

Filling water bottles to the very very top.

Years ago the water dispenser at

hospitals having one community cup with a string attached.

Buying a new car , getting red registration plates and being restricted to the province while waiting sometimes weeks ,for the regular plates.

I find it Strange , but I’m not the one who brought up strange & annoyances.

Every country and culture has its own peculiarities and idiosyncrasies. That's what makes being an expat fun. If one has lived in a variety of places, one just learns to go with the flow. Expect everywhere to be 'like home' or 'make sense' according to what you think makes sense, maybe means you should have stayed home.

Once when living in Japan, I had this encounter at an electronic store....

I needed to replace an ink cartridge on a printer I had shipped from home. Cartridges have software, and at the time the only cartridges I could buy in Japan only worked with Japanese operating systems. The saleswoman suggested I just buy a Japanese printer. I wondered if my computer could communicate with a Japanese printer. She thought maybe not. So I took the ball and ran with it.....

I said I guess I have to buy a Japanese operating system computer. She thought probably so. I asked her if the interface was in Japanese or English. Just Japanese, she said. I told her that as yet I could not read Kanji, though my hiragana and katakana were good. She said much is in Kanji. She thought maybe I could take a language course to learn Kanji.

So I summed it up as a question: So I need to go take a Japanese language course, so that I can read the interface on a new computer I must buy, so I can link it to a Japanese printer I also must buy, so the Japanese ink cartridge will work, so I can print the document I need today?

"Hai", she said.

The Japanese are wont to be agreeable and not cause confusion. That is their style and their culture.

I bought a brand new iPhone SE at  a nationwide electronics shop in Loei. She unpacked it and started setting it up. I told I will do that at home, no worries.  I go home spend an hour setting it up and the thing is hot to the touch.  I let it rest and play some more and still gets really hot.  Next day take it back to the shop to exchange- no way, can not must send to Udon to authorized repair!   3 or 4 weeks was estimated repair time.

I will test everything now before paying and going home.
