A fire broke out in the Khlong Toei district of Bangkok early morning on January 9, destroying 22 rooms and leaving 33 residents homeless. Authorities are working to control the situation, provide temporary shelter, and investigate the cause of the blaze.

At approximately 02:45 Pol. Lt. Col. Santichai Chansathien, an investigator from the Tha Ruea Police Station, was notified of a fire at the Romklao Pattana Mai community near the Khlong Toei housing flats on At Narong Road, Khlong Toei district.

Firefighters from the Khlong Toei Fire and Rescue Station, along with fire trucks and volunteers from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation, rushed to the scene.

The fire, which erupted at a community centre in Khlong Toei, quickly spread through two-storey wooden houses built in close proximity to one another. After approximately 50 minutes of firefighting, the blaze was brought under control. Fortunately, no injuries or fatalities were reported.

Initial assessments indicate the fire destroyed around 22 rooms, affecting 33 individuals. The Khlong Toei District Office has since established a temporary shelter for the victims. Meanwhile, investigators, in coordination with forensic officers, are working to determine the cause of the fire.

This incident underscores the vulnerability of densely populated wooden housing structures in Bangkok, with authorities now working to support the displaced families and ensure a thorough investigation.
