Fire Claims Lives of Prominent Suphan Buri Politician and Family

A devastating fire engulfed a three-storey building in Suphan Buri early morning on January 11, killing four members of a prominent local politician’s family, including two children.

 

The fire broke out at a property on Phra Phanwasa Road in Tha Phi Liang Subdistrict, Muang District. The building served as both a residence and a shop selling electrical and mechanical tools. Firefighters and emergency responders rushed to the scene after receiving the report.

 

Efforts to control the blaze were immediately undertaken. Preliminary reports indicated that four people were inside the building at the time of the fire. Tragically, despite rescue attempts, none of the occupants survived.

 

The victims have been identified as Mr. Phusit Rungrorchaiyaporn, 52, a well-known member of the Provincial Administrative Organisation (PAO) for District 1, Suphan Buri; his wife, Mrs. Kanokwan Rungrorchaiyaporn, 49; their son, Mr. Thirawat Rungrorchaiyaporn, 26; and their daughter, Ms. Warasiri Rungrorchaiyaporn, 24.

 

Initial findings suggest the victims were trapped as the fire rapidly spread through the building. Emergency personnel recovered one body near the staircase on the second floor, with three others found on the third floor.

 

Witnesses reported thick smoke billowing from the structure, hindering initial rescue attempts. Firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control, but the building was severely damaged. Authorities are now investigating the cause of the fire.

Most domestic fire victims die from smoke inhalation rather than burns.

 

Furniture foam is the biggest danger, especially as non flammable non poisonous foam is not banned in Thailand like other countries.

oh dear Georgealbert,  this is a real tragedy,  the family were taken in an instant,   was it deliberately lit as the occupant being an important local political figure ... nothing would surprise me here,  as we know they don't give a damn about killing people.  

I hope they investigate thoroughly and if it was deliberate, catch the arsonist and shoot him.

non flammable and non poisonous surely is a good thing, why is it banned in some countries ?

would depend on who did it and their connections - might just be a fine or limitation of crime  prior to legal judgement
