I.e. making one country cleaner and outsourcing all the dirty production to other countries, with less restrictions, is a stupid idea.

Switching off nuclear power, and then using coal, is a stupid idea.

There are many of those stupid idea. They might look good to some voters locally but cost a fortune and are counterproductive if people would look at the whole world.

In other words, the wealthier first world countries are  simply pushing aside their problems to Somewhere Else(they cannot see): AKA Pollution Export.

The same happening even among the West as well.

While Germany abolished their nuke power stations in 2023 (after Japan's Fukushima Nuclear Disaster in 2011), they started to buy power from their neighbor (France).

Regarding nuclear power generation, once they start it, they will be forever  haunted by its curse (even after its decommissioning).

They need to make sure radioactive toxin won't go outside; have to bury the reactor  under huge amount of concrete.

That process is called sarcophagus which costs astronomical expenses (for the future generations).

It is said to take 100000 years till radiation dose halves...

At the same time, renewable energy technologies aren't almighty either; much less than most people expect.

Its efficiency and reliability are known to be far less than fossil fuel method; unable to generate the same amount of energy year around(depending the area and climate though).

Solar power device is said to break down well before its EPT(energy payback time) is fulfilled.

Mankind seems to be straightly heading for the Dead End by all means.

So many mouths to feed. So much more energy needed. But the available resources are slimming.

And the New Technologies aren't decisive enough.

Unless truly Revolutionary Paradyme Shift in energy and way of life take place.

That is not necessary when there was no catastrophe. In Germany nuclear reactors are part by part dismantled. It is obviously still expensive but different from what you describe.

Personally, my prediction for the world's future is pretty pessimistic.

I am glad I am already old enough not to live another 40-50 years.

Practicing  Minimalist Way of life for many years.

Still, nearly spending 100 times more energy than the man 150 years ago...

Power and water supply round the clock at fingertip.

Able to eat whatever hour it is.

Able to speak to someone on the other end of the world.

Crossing the borders with comfort in the sky.

Benefit of all of the modern conveniences and Environmental Moral Dilemma...

So getting all the fruit and vegetable scraps(uneatable parts) to the rabbits.

Bones to the strays in the street; my Daily Chore.

This way, I can more or less get off the Sense of Guilt to those who have to live another half a century after my death...
