Phuket netizens slam half-naked foreign man on red baht bus
There is no suggestion that weed was involved. If these 'knob heads' are 'all over Pattaya and Phuket', I would suggest that alcohol and bars have far more to do with the knob headedness than weed. Or are you one of these anti-weed people who wants to support earlier Thai media assertions that weed is responsible for every strange or aggressive behaviour exhibited by Thais or tourists. -

Thai tax tangle: Expats warned of new rules on overseas income
I thought that was dependent on the double taxation agreement. So US social security and all Hong Kong pensions are exempt. UK state pensions aren't unless it's a government pension (i.e. civil service pension). Admittedly a UK state pension not being classed as a "government pension" for the double taxation agreement does feel a bit weird... So for Oz, check the double taxation agreement. -

Symphony concert tonight Jan 19 in Lumpini Park at 17:30
Title says most of it. One of my favorite things about Bangkok (in season). I stopped in and they're set up and the sound people told me starts at 5:30... Well worth a visit. Free. MRT Silom, BTS Sala Daeng. Edit: Bring a folding chair if you have one. They used to have a couple of guys who rent roll up mats. I suspect they still do... -

Rachel Reeves: Quit Now the Tipping Point for Britain’s Economy is Here
Rachel Reeves: Quit Now the Tipping Point for Britain’s Economy is Here ….the Daily Torygraph on the money as usual…oh!… Wait….. • The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has upgraded its forecast for the UK’s economic growth in 2025 to 1.6%, positioning it as the third-strongest among G7 economies, following the US and Canada. Inflation Rates: • Inflation in the UK has moderated, with recent data indicating a decline to 2.5%. This decrease has alleviated pressure on the Bank of England and influence future monetary policy decisions. Borrowing Rates and Government Bonds: • Yields on UK government bonds, known as gilts, have experienced fluctuations. The 10-year gilt yield climbed to approximately 4.9% in early January 2025, the highest since 2008. However, forecasts suggest a decline to about 4% by the end of 2025. • The Bank of England is anticipated to implement multiple interest rate cuts throughout 2025 to support economic growth, with expectations of quarterly reductions. These developments reflect a dynamic economic environment in the UK, with positive growth forecasts tempered by ongoing challenges in inflation and borrowing costs.- 1
