Phuket netizens slam half-naked foreign man on red baht bus

Thai netizens criticised a foreign man after a photograph of him standing half-naked on a red baht bus in Phuket circulated on Thai social media platforms.

 

The Phuket Times shared the images yesterday, January 16, with a caption that read, “#Patong. A foreign tourist pulled his shorts down and revealed his bottom. Doesn’t care about anyone.”

The two images shared by the page showed the foreign man standing half-naked at the back of the red baht bus. He removed his shirt and draped it over his shoulder. He also pulled his shorts down to the level of his bottom.

 

As he had his back to the camera, it was unclear whether he exposed his private parts to other passengers inside the vehicle. A foreign woman captured in the photo appeared confused by the man’s actions.

There are no further details on when the incident occurred or the exact location. The page only reported that the foreign man was in the Patong neighbourhood of Phuket.

Netizens, particularly locals in Phuket, criticised the foreign man’s behaviour in the comments section.

 

“Foreign tourists in Phuket nowadays are awful.”
“What can officials do about this?”

“This ruins the beautiful culture of Thailand.”

“Did he buy his shorts in the wrong size?”

“I really want to know if he’d do this in his own country.”

 

This is not the first incident involving the inappropriate behaviour of foreign tourists on public transport in Phuket.

In November last year, a foreign man and woman were criticised by Phuket locals after viral images showed them leaning dangerously out of a tuk tuk during a traffic jam.

That same month, two other foreign men were criticised for dancing recklessly on a red baht bus while stuck in traffic in Phuket. They were dressed in female attire, and some Thai netizens claimed the men were attending a friend’s wedding in the province.

 

In June, a foreign man was condemned for urinating on a tuk tuk during a traffic jam in Phuket. One of the most viral incidents occurred in September when a foreign couple was caught engaging in sexual activity on a tuk tuk.

 

A similar incident took place in Bangkok this month when a tuk tuk driver shared a video on social media of his foreign passengers engaging in sexual activity. He stated that he asked them to stop but the couple ignored him and continued their intimate behaviour in the vehicle.

Why so surprised? Thailand is viewed as a wild party place by young foreign tourists, always has been, but now exaggerated by a large influx of Russians.

 

Thailand should be asking itself why tourists think like this. Could be to do with the services and “vibrant” nightlife that is provided?
Eliminate the seedy side of the tourism product and those seeking that environment will go elsewhere. Keep providing the very things that sleezy expats want and that is precisely what Thailand will receive, year after year.

It really not " Thailand". It's very small areas within completely boring areas. That's it. A few places out of tons of places.

Thailand has always had knob heads from different countries flock, but now these knob heads are a lot younger and involved in crime . You can see the usual suspects in the UK are now all over Pattaya and Phuket. I was once a knob head in the UK in my younger years but going to Thailand wasn’t ever on the radar or deemed possible , but now with the weed legalisation and how easy it is to buy in large amounts , plenty of Thais are willing to work these young Brits. Weed in the UK is still illegal and far more expensive to produce in the UK. And a lot do get through customs

Agreed. But those few places are 100% within Thailand’s control. If they don’t want crappy tourists in the those few areas, then change what they offer tourists. Otherwise, back to my original question, why so surprised?

I hate to tell you this little secret. It's not just what you think are crappy tourists going to these places. Your little " change" will make Thailand Saudi Arabia. Even there however they have massive decadent parties with drugs, alcohol and whores. I say leave Pattaya beach rd/walking street and a few other sois just the way they are. Choose to go there or church ⛪️

Omg. They are not coming here for the weed dude!!! Also any " knob" can get Marijuana 24/7 in the UK. From what I've seen they get MUCH MUCH more powerful drugs in the UK. As a former knob it seems you failed! You are really showing old age thinking here.

Just arrest them.  They have to start making examples.  And if you get arrested you can't come back for a year.  Two arrests you're banned.  You wouldn't be doing this type of thing in there strict SE Asian countries.  Why go to another country to be a douch3

Living here 12 years, it seems to get worse year after year.  It amazes me how someone would go to a foreign ( country OTHER than theirs ) and act like a total arse!!!  I vote to deport him and ban 5 years - although it happened IN Pattaya ...... Hummmm
