Trial Postponed for Labour Councillor accused of inciting violence

The trial of Ricky Jones, a suspended Labour councillor facing accusations of inciting violence during last summer’s riots, has been postponed until August. Jones, 57, is charged with encouraging violent disorder following a speech delivered to a crowd in Walthamstow on August 7 last year. His words, captured on video, gained widespread attention online as he spoke out against "disgusting Nazi fascists," declaring, "we need to cut their throats and get rid of them."

Originally, Jones was scheduled to stand trial this week at Snaresbrook Crown Court. However, a decision made last week has now deferred the trial until August 11. This delay follows Jones’ suspension from the Labour Party after his participation in the anti-fascist protest on Hoe Street, Walthamstow, where the controversial speech was made.

In court last September, Jones pleaded not guilty to the charge of encouraging violent disorder. Initially remanded in custody, he has since been released on bail. Chief Crown Prosecutor Jaswant Narwal of CPS London North stated at the time the charges were announced, "Jones was filmed addressing a crowd in Walthamstow on Wednesday 7 August during which he appeared to make remarks and a gesture to encourage others to act violently towards far-right protestors."

Narwal emphasized the importance of preserving the integrity of the judicial process, reminding the public, "We remind all concerned that criminal proceedings are active and that he has the right to a fair trial. It is extremely important that there should be no reporting, commentary, or sharing of information online which could in any way prejudice these proceedings."

As the new trial date approaches, the case remains a focal point for public and media attention, highlighting the tensions surrounding the events of last summer and the ongoing repercussions for those involved.

And still walking around a free man since August 7. Now not even due in court for what will be a full year after this hate speech and incitement to violence.

Unlike the "right wing" FaceBook posters who were arrested, charged and jailed for unusually lengthy terms within a week for posting on social media.

Amazing what being a Labour supporter can do in 2 Tier Keir's Britain.

I see you’ e changed tack.

Your previous claim his trial would be buried in the news of Trump’s inauguration has evaporated.

Yes I suspect I overestimated their intelligence. 😄

It would have been the perfect time to give him the suspended sentence they already negotiated. Maybe they know something big is coming in August? Maybe Starmer knows he will be gone by then? Or maybe they thought burying 2 stories on the same day was too much so they chose the guilty plea of the Southport terrorist second gen immigrant child killer instead?

No I didn't have a link to the Trump victory or the Brexit leave vote until they happened either.

Hilarious

The video is all over the internet, his words and action are crystal clear.

There is nothing that anyone can say that would prejudice the proceedings.

So the answer is no, you don’t have a link because you were making stuff up.

By your own admission you post whatever garbage comes into your head.

It's a prediction.

Predictions surround future events.

We'll revisit this in August. Then I will provide you with your precious link.

Why do you think they postponed the trial by the way? I'd love to know your thoughts. 😄

Your statement was:

“It would have been the perfect time to give him the suspended sentence they already negotiated.”

Stop wriggling Jonny, that’s not a prediction, that’s a statement that a suspended sentence has already been negotiated’

You make stuff up Jonny, just any nonsense that comes into your head, and then post it here.

Thanks for confirming this fact.

Honestly the amount of predictions you've made and you have the audacity to question others doing the same.

What with the Southport terrorist, the postponing of building 18 new hospitals and the Labour councillor they had a lot of news to try and bury on inauguration day - they were simply juggling to much and somewhat surprisingly for clowns they are not good at juggling.  Maybe the judge they had arranged to give the suspended sentence was sick so there was no choice but to postpone - the report doesn't say the reason.

Do you have a link to confirm your claim of ‘the judge they arranged to give the suspended sentence’ or are too just making stuff up and posting it?

There might be, if they keep postponing the trial long enough. 😄

No surprise in 2 Tier Keir's "justice" system.

If this thug calling for murder had been one of the so called far right laughing at a Police dog or saying something on facebook they would be well into a prison sentence by now. No surprise comrade Chomper is defending the delay in this case.
