Tooth implants procedure

Im been given Amoxycillin 4x 500mg before making implants.

 

When I extracted a tooth, I was also given antibiotics, even I already was treated with antibiotics prior to the extraction.

 

Seems antibiotics is given just in case, and is his normal at every dentist/hospital.

It is customary in Thailand. I can't say re other places.

I have had several implants here was never prescribed anything before or after.  Maybe your Dentist has had issues with infected patients and is just being cautious.

I was reading about it after they got me the cocktail, and seems quite normal, 

 

Anyway, one more week with antibiotics is prescripted.

 

Conclusion. Prophylactic antibiotic for each implant surgery is not mandatory. Antibiotics are however useful in preventing postoperative infections after implant placement
