Cake Vendor's Pickup Truck Crosses Lane, Collides with Delivery Truck, One Dead, Two Injured
Picture from responders. A crash on 26 January on the Dan Sai-Khok Ngam road in Khok Ngam Subdistrict, Loei Province, left one man dead and two others injured after a cake vendor's pickup truck veered across the lane and collided head-on with a pickup transporting oranges. The collision occurred at around 20:20. Pol. Lt. Sorasit Suwannakot, investigator at Khok Ngam Police Station, was informed of the collision and coordinated with medical staff from Dan Sai Crown Prince Hospital and rescue teams from Sawang Keeree Tham and Sajja Maitree Rescue Units. Hydraulic equipment was deployed to extricate the victims. At the scene, a white Isuzu pickup truck registered in Sakon Nakhon, fully loaded with oranges, was found overturned with damage to its front-right side. Two men inside, aged approximately 30-45, were injured and trapped in the vehicle. Rescuers managed to extract them and rush them to Dan Sai Crown Prince Hospital. About 100 metres away, a silver Toyota Vigo pickup truck registered in Bangkok was found with its front completely wrecked. The driver, identified as Mr. Chetta aged 52, from Khlong Luang District, Pathum Thani, was found deceased inside. Rescue teams had to use hydraulic tools to remove his body, which was later sent to Dan Sai Crown Prince Hospital. Initial investigations revealed that the deceased, who sold cakes at the Khlong Thom Market, was driving home to Dan Sai District. Upon descending a hill near Ban Huai Tad, he lost control of his pickup, crossed into the opposite lane and collided with the orange delivery truck traveling in the opposite direction. Authorities are examining the scene and collecting evidence to determine the exact cause of the crash, and legal proceedings are underway. -- 2025-01-27 -
