Visa extension

I think I've asked this before, but have forgotten if I have... it happens.

My mate (Australian) is coming, to Thai, surprise surprise, on a 60 day visa free, but he is interested in extending it, I have heard of a 30 day extension, giving him a total of 90 days, how does he go about obtaining the extension, and what documents does he need, he wants to come with all necessary documents.

The immigration office in blue port mall in Hua Hin does extensions.  As of about 5 months ago when I extended there, they just required a copy of local hotel booking, passport, and 1900 baht fee.  No Tm30 copy required.  There is a copy center in the mall if you need to print your hotel booking.

Just for others in Bangkok note : do not attend CW. You attend Lak Si 

The main thing your friend should require is TM30.

TM7 form requires photo.

No photo or TM30 was required at blue port Hua Hin the last couple of times I extended there.  I don't know what they did about the photo the TM7 asks for, but they didn't require it.  All they asked for was passport, copy of hotel booking, and 1900 baht.

he will be saying with me...so I assume a TM30 from my landlord/agent

Yes.  Or alternately book a cheap hotel for a night or two if you find that too difficult.

TM30... to be on the safe side... from my landlord/agent, or 1 night in hotel

TM7... from BluePort immigration

Just apply few days early.

Your 30 day extension is added to current permission of stay regardless of when you apply

Can someone please advise me regarding visa extensions based on retirement money in the bank method.

 

Currently as a single non Thai I have to hold THB800k in my account.

If I marry another non Thai, do we each have to hold THB800k in the bank, or is a visa based on retirement for a married couple reduced to THB400k for the couple?

If you marry Thai and continue to obtain extensions based on retirement you need 800k in bank for 2 months prior to application and 3 months after and not below 400k in other months.

If extension is based on marriage financial requirements is 400k for two months prior to application and till final stamp in pp.

Then funds can be used.

Sweet deal however has more paperwork, home visit, etc

Thanks. So marriage to either Thai or foreigner, but would need to change from Extension based on Marriage, rather than Retirement? I'm not sure how that would or could work. If it did, it would release THB1.2M from the current arrangement, (of THB800K each). I'll ask my agent, who does our IMM issues.

Sorry. Misread your post.

Overlooked the fact spouse would be non Thai.

That's completely different.

You could live in Thailand on extensions based on retirement and non Thai wife could piggyback on your extensions as being a dependent. She would need to enter Thailand with a Non O

OK. Not married yet, but the intended here already with me for 22 years, on an Extension based on Retirement. Was only wondering if getting married would reduce the money in the bank from THB1.6m to THB400k.

She is non Thai.

Seems you both over 50 and have both been obtaining extensions based on retirement hence the 800k each.

Marriage to the "intended" (like that term) changes nothing.

If you can afford afford the 800k each in Thai bank account each then fine.

Frankly in your situation I would consider agent for you and partner separate extensions.

   A passport photo will be needed as will photocopies' of your passport pages

As I said earlier, they weren't requiring a passport photo when I last extended there.  They also made the passport copies for us free of charge.  

 

The location is very convenient, in a popular, central mall.  They usually have an English speaking person out front greeting people.   The OP could stop by and double check current requirements if he wants to be certain.

Those photo/print shops at various immigration offices is best bet.

In OP can walk in with pp and say to copy shop joint ....."30 day extension" 

They will take pp and do what's required.

If photo for TM7 required they will advise.

Still suggest OP has a TM30.

   Filling out the forms , answering all the questions .

The the infom asked in the questions is written in the passport .

Why couldn't they just scan the passport and get all the required info that way ? 

   That would save a whole lot of paper being wasted

Thanks. Yes, we can afford THB800K each. Will leave the arrangement as it is. The agent is a gofer. Handles all the paperwork, excluding the bank letters and statements, which we obtain and give to him, and meet him at CW for a brief 30 minutes, of which 15-20 with the IMM Officer. The rest is taken care of, and we depart. The agent's fee is to remove the hassle and waiting factor, which we tired of about 5 years ago, having done it all ourselves, which took 7 hours or so door to door. I was under the misapprehension there was a financial benefit at IMM for extensions if one was married, (as a foreigner to a foreigner).

None unless you do the piggyback option as non Thai wife as a dependent. Useful for someone with non Thai wife under 50.

Seems you have good setup with agent and you are able to provide funds.

Stick with that.

Because their computers are not programmed for it. It is e-government Thai style.
