There were no 7-Elevens in Greenwich when I was young.

There were no Sevens on Long Island when I was young.

The sandwitches I prefer can only be had in....

Places like this:

There are a few great delis on The Main Line, someplace in Merion Township, for example.

But, you are correct that...

By comparison the Seven sandwitches sold in the USA in the USA, decades ago, were GARBAGE by comparison to a top-notch sandwitch.  There is just no comparison.  Still the Seven Sandwitches of decades ago were better than what they were selling in Taiwan, after President bought them out.

I would not eat what they are selling these days.

However, consumers today have much lower expectations....OBVIOUSLY...jut looking at the Glop on sale.

BUT, if you REALLY want good Deli Food, then stick to places like Bala Cynwyd, PA, or similar....

I recall Hymie's Deli from often going there 65-years ago.

The food is good.

The sandwiches are GREAT.

When will Asian Sevens learn that THIS is the taste and QUALITY that we demand...before we buy sandwitches from 7....again.

Subway started in Bridgeport in the 1960's and went to Stamford and other areas and then the world. Most people liked their sandwiches. They have more locations than BK and Mc D's too. Sometimes you remember things from the 70's better because you are actually forgetting. Everything just seemed better. But you post a sandwich pic from 2025 to represent what you think you remember from the 70's. It's always bigger , better and tastier that way.  I just watched a whole story about how Subway began. They never ever mentioned 7/11 as a competitor. They just were comparing themselves to some place in NJ and I believe another in CT.

I recall Subway sandwiches.

When was the moment I first ordered one, I do not know.

I just knew at the time that they were overpriced for what you got.

Still, they were decent sandwiches at Subway, at least in the USA they were.

I would not complain about much but their price.

How much of income went to the Franchise and how much was retained by the owner of the shop, the one that did all the work, I do not know.

Subway sandwiches could never compare with those made by Hymies's Delicatessen, for sure.

But, the Subway sandwiches are probably better than the 7-sandwitches....

Its already toasted you just warm it up in the microwave

Don't overdo it lest the bread becomes soggy.  We use a toaster oven for heating up crispy foods such as fried chicken.

My favorite 7 / 11 sandwich would be 2 sweet cashers with me in the middle :licklips:

My favorite Subway sandwich is the meatball with marinara sauce.  When it comes to homemade sandwiches, my girlfriend likes my tuna salad with lettuce and sliced tomatoes.  I use canned tuna in oil with mayo mixed with finely diced onion and celery.  Best eaten when chilled along with my homemade bread and butter pickles.
