A massive fire engulfed on January 31, a well-known automobile parts plant (Carryboy) in the Lat Krabang district of Bangkok, sending thick black smoke into the sky and triggering multiple explosions. 
 

The fire was first reported at 05:08, prompting an urgent response from the Lat Krabang Fire and Rescue Station. At 05:18, emergency teams arrived to find flames consuming the third floor of a five-storey building on Luang Phaeng Road, Thap Yao subdistrict. The fire quickly spread, with explosions echoing through the site due to the presence of chemical solvents and flammable materials.

 

 At 07:06 responders reported that the front section of the building had started to collapse due to the intensity of the fire. 
 

Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt arrived on-site at 07:30 to oversee the situation and coordinate emergency efforts.

 

 

Firefighters have worked tirelessly to contain the blaze and as of 08.30, it has been contained, but not fully extinguished. While there have been no reported injuries or casualties, several vehicles inside the building have been destroyed.

 

Authorities have yet to determine anybsuspected cause of the fire. Investigators will assess the full extent of the damage once the site is declared safe.

That would be a shame if they are having money trouble .... mulitnational company with 10's of 1000's of employee would be affected.

yes,  I agree ... it's the little guy who suffers.  I've noticed many factory fires started recently,  post-Covid19 ... which certainly looks suspicious.  just saying ...

The markets they service are booming worldwide... be surprised if the cause is money issues.

 Sorry, but there is nothing in this post that even starts to suggest at this stage, this was an ‘insurance job’.

 

Seems some people on AN think every fire is an insurance job!

 

It is amazing that unqualified people with no experience, seem to think that an insurance pay out is going to be automatic after a fire.

 

All insurance companies look very closely to avoid paying, like with every type of claim. The investigation into fire will take weeks, depending on when access is available to all parts of the fire scene.
 

The insurance will also have its own investigators and loss assessors reviewing the scene and all evidence, before any offer on compensation is made.

Fire Engulfs Carryboy Company, Causing Over 150 Million Baht in Damage: Company Had No Fire Insurance

A devastating fire broke out early morning of 31 January, at the Carryboy company, a major manufacturer of automotive accessories and camper vans, causing estimated damages of no less than 150 million baht. 

 

The company had no insurance coverage, and the blaze destroyed numerous camper vans and ambulances in production. Witnesses reported hearing a series of loud explosions as the fire rapidly spread.

 

The fire erupted at the company’s four-storey facility on Luang Phaeng Road in the Lat Krabang district of Bangkok. The premises, covering over 10 rai, house the assembly of newly manufactured vans into ambulances and pickup trucks into camper vans for both domestic and international markets.

 

Mr Panit Theerati, Assistant Managing Director of Carryboy, confirmed that company officials, along with relevant authorities, are working urgently to manage the crisis. He estimated the damage at a minimum of 150 million baht and admitted that the company had not taken out fire insurance.

 

“We will conduct a full inspection of the property and its structural integrity. If necessary, we are prepared to demolish and rebuild in order to restore customer confidence as quickly as possible,” Mr Panit stated.

 

 

According to initial reports, the fire originated on the third floor. Security personnel attempted to contain the flames but were unsuccessful, and the fire quickly spread throughout the facility. The exact cause remains unknown, and authorities will conduct a thorough investigation.

 

Employees, numbering in the hundreds, arrived at the scene as news of the fire spread. Many expressed shock and sadness upon seeing their workplace engulfed in flames. Some voiced concern about their future employment, as the company has not yet issued any official communication to its staff regarding the situation.

 

A local resident who witnessed the incident recounted that they were awakened by an explosion. At first, they dismissed the noise, but after hearing a second explosion, they looked outside and saw flames emerging from the building. “After that, there were several more explosions, and the fire quickly spread throughout the entire building. The blaze continued uncontrolled until at least 08.00” the resident said.

 

 

Firefighters struggled to bring the inferno under control due to the presence of highly flammable substances such as thinners and paint, which were stored within the facility. Although there was no strong wind to spread the flames to nearby buildings, concerns remain over the potential impact of chemical fumes in the surrounding area.

 

Fortunately, as the fire occurred outside working hours, the hundreds of employees who usually work there were not inside. Only security staff were on site at the time.

 

Authorities are now assessing the full extent of the damage and investigating the cause of the fire. The company has pledged to take swift action to address the aftermath and rebuild its operations.
