Thai authorities arrested a Chinese woman accused of facilitating illegal border crossings, following an international request for her apprehension. Ms Lyu Ruoxi was detained in Soi Pornpraphanimit 14/3, Bang Lamung district, Chonburi, on 30 January under an arrest warrant issued by the Criminal Court of Thailand. She faces charges of organising illegal border crossings, in violation of Thai law. The operation was led by National Police Chief Pol Gen Kittirat Phanphet, alongside senior officers including Pol Gen Thana Chuwong, Pol Lt Gen Siam Boonsom, and Pol Maj Gen Theeradej Thammasutee. Officers from the Special Investigation and Intelligence Analysis Division (SIAD) of the Metropolitan Police Bureau carried out the arrest at a residence in Soi Phonprapanimit 14/3, (Soi Siam Country Club), Nong Prue. Authorities confirmed that Ms Lyu Ruoxi was wanted by Chinese law enforcement for allegedly assisting individuals in crossing borders illegally. The Office of the Attorney General of Thailand coordinated with Chinese authorities on the case, leading to her capture. The Thai government has prioritised tackling transnational crime, including human trafficking and illegal immigration. Under new directives, law enforcement agencies have been working to dismantle networks engaged in unlawful activities that threaten national security and public order. Ms Lyu has been transferred to the Office of the Attorney General’s Foreign Affairs Division, which will oversee legal proceedings under the Extradition Act of 2008. Authorities have reiterated their commitment to cooperating with international partners to combat transnational crime and ensure that Thailand does not become a haven for fugitives. -- 2025-02-02

Briggsy Posted 2 minutes ago Posted 2 minutes ago If they are coming from China to Thailand, they would need to cross two land borders or take a boat. North Koreans?
