Probably easier to get a new passport, less stress, use an agent

Red Kramer nailed it... Last year my agent renewed my passport and it was seamless. They took care of everything, including mailing it out and getting it back and getting all the appropriate stamps from Immigration...

Does it still require for the applicant to present themselves at the Embassy? If so an agent would be a waste of money.

No, I used an agent recently

No you don't, you can renew your Aussie passport online here in Thailand, it's easy.

I know you make an appointment online but I have never heard that you can receive a new passport without actually presenting yourself at the Embassy. Handy to be able to do though. Mine expires in a couple of years so I'll definitely look at doing it online.

This is how. Apply or renew | Australian Passport Office My

friend did his, and it took 14 days to receive it, delivered to his home.

A hypothetical question. I am ninety-one. My passport expires in 2028. If I don't bother to renew it what are the ramifications if I'm still around?

Do it online. EASY www.passports.gov.au/apply-or-renew

How does an agent get a new passport for you? I know for Aussie passports it requires personally fronting up at the Consulate in Bangkok, so not sure how an agent can help with that.

No, it does not. Apply online, don't go anywhere, and get delivered to your door, takes about 14 days after you submit the application.   www.passports.gov.au/apply-or-renew

The last time I renewed my British passport was in NZ. My daughter contacted the British Embassy in Auckland who said they could not do it but pointed the way to do it online. She did and I received my new passport back in a couple of weeks. Excellent service. Why can't we do this in Thailand?
