Is It Easy to Get Things Done in Thailand, or Is It Laden with Needless Formality?

I do wonder what would happen if Thailand ran out of paper.

Today, I picked up some steak at Makro. Two labels on it, a price for chicken ( cheaper ) and a price for beef. The checkout chick scanned the chicken label, even though the steak was clearly visible.

Stopped at the door, wrong price paid on the receipt. One form generated to refund my money, give back the steak. Then another receipt after I paid the correct amount.

20 minutes of faffing around. Just as well I didn't buy ice cream.

Makro ..Pranburi,,  they check every freakin line on the receipts

Makro Hua Hin ,,    they never even look..  just stamp it

yeah..  nothing like washing your a** with a hose that every tom,dik and somchai before you touched  and probably touched their butt  secreations with

then having a wet dripping butt  ,,  add that to ..usually no soap or paper towel to clean your flavored fingers with ,,,,,,

 sounds real appealing..

It's very rare I would have a dump outside the comfort of my own place. I guess that would apply to most people.

After a dump, I dry my butt with toilet tissue. Then I use soap, water to clean my hands, before drying with a towel.

I trust this is not too much information. For me, being in a crowd in a country that just uses reams of toilet paper is TMI, all those imperfectly cleaned @rses. Filthy.

Whatever turns your crank, enjoy sex doggy-style, with the aroma wafting up to you.

If you're rich and powerful....yes. if you're poor and don't know anyone with influence.....most things are not so easy. Moral of the story; power and money grease the wheels over here.

I get everything done here that I need and I never need to grease anything except my frying pan before I drop the raw eggs in for breakfast.

Take something as simple as opening a bank account.

I was told a few years ago that for the bank to open an account for an American from the USA, they have a ton of new paperwork that has to be filled out...

i have long standing accounts so it doesn't effect me, but I imagine if there is not a lot of money being put into what might be a short term account, it is not worthwhile for them to fill out all the required paperwork.

Americans have problems opening bank accounts in nearly in every country of the world now. This is not something exclusive to Thailand. Most banks don't want to deal with all the necessary reporting. The reason was mentioned earlier, it is because of a law called FACTA. This, and the US taxation on worldwide income, which even applies to Americans living abroad, causes an average of 6,000 Americans a year to give up their US citizenships.
