First up think you will be fine.

What is you prior history with stay in Thailand.

Surprised they told you that on Thai side.

If all else fails you could consider flight to Bangkok and if history in Thailand extensive a "safe entry" airport service works a treat.

I get denial after I came back from laos. Took me to a small office and the big officer took picture and right a paper of official deny entry.

The below Extraction is from the "Thai Embassy Website" in Wellington in New Zealand.

Aliens who enter Thailand under the Tourist Visa Exemption scheme and would like to leave and re-enter the Kingdom will be able to stay for a cumulative duration not exceeding 90 days and the duration shall be within a 6 months from the date of first entry.

 

Passports or travel documents must be valid for at least 6 months upon the date of first entry.

 

Foreigners entering Thailand under the Tourist Visa Exemption scheme must provide proof of adequate finances for the duration of stay in Thailand at the port of entry (ie, traveller’s check or cash equivalent to 10,000 Baht per person and 20,000 Baht per family).

 

Foreigners entering Thailand by any means under the Tourist Visa Exemption scheme are required at the port of entry to have proof of onward travel (confirmed air, train, bus or boat tickets) to leave Thailand within 60 days after the date of arrival, otherwise a tourist visa must be obtained before entering Thailand.

Agreed. I have entered 3 times since June with no issues. This recent warning on the Thai side of the border (5 FEB) was the first time I have been questioned  My initial entry in June was air, then 2 NK crossings. Last one in early NOV. Tomorrow will be my 4th entry (third NK crossing), if successful.

NZ is not alone.

A safer option in future is to use agent minivan company for border bounce.

You must have reason to be using NK.

I'm not aware of agent doing that run from Udon Thani to Nong Khai

Won't be long till there is if reports similar to what's in this thread.

I'll update for sure. I'm pretty nervous about it. I should probably just go have a drink and relax and just deal with what ever happens tomorrow if it happens.  Was hoping there'd be some reports today from someone attempting it but nothing. Checked Reddit as well. Just a lot of speculation. Que sera, sera.

Maybe it would be better to come with a tourist e-visa and prior the expiration of the 30 days extension from the 60 days tourist visa you can start to do a few border runs. It makes more sense to be honest. Even if it is a bit pointless to come with a tourist visa as you can get 60 days for free but coming with a valid visa is always stronger than coming without a visa and you could do more border runs

Depends how long you want to stay and how many Thai stamps you already have.

Friends have managed to stay 12 months with just border bounces.

You can get 90 days from a VOA, 60+30, bounce, 60+30

If I go tomorrow, it will be 3 nights in Laos by then so that should be enough. I'll try NK first for sure because the potential nightmare at the airport scares me.  I don't know why the IO insisted I go back through the airport though.  If he had not said that, I would not be as worried about going back via NK.

Pretty irrelevant to the two guys in the thread .....one asking about border bounce and one in Laos trying to enter Thailand tomorrow.

Relevant to the OP titled  "How many border runs?".

Similar to advice from many "Thai Embassies" worldwide as has been updated externally, which was in conjunction with the introduction of both  DTV and LTR visas in 2024.

 Don't worry my wife call the NK border after i get deny entry and they say the same i should fly to bangkok for new entry and after 2 days there i got an new entry without ask anything , no paper , no money ; no accomodation

Yesterday with doing an extension, I asked the leaving term of Thailand for doing an exemption again.

The answer was puzzling as the IO officer said it was depending on the border IO's/

She said, I  had to ask when doing so. at  the specific border. Amazing.

 

 THe extension costed an hour and we were the only ones there.

Official site , demands were wuth TM 6 which I didnt have, but no point.

Other forum I red TM30 to bring. As my wife was the TM30 maker and we didnt bring it, it was done by ID wife.

IO officer helpful to check system for correctness.

I wonder how a foreigner by himself has to do it, as TM 30 is Thai.

The Tm 30 was NOT on demands list of Immigration (official site) . It is also not printable, as we searched for that.

Worst case scenario, to fill in a TM 30 by hand and form. TM 28 then foreigner?

Furthermore signing of forms about understanding of rules , like overstaying en misbehavior and so on.

Currently best to use an agent minivan border run company.

TM6 was stopped some time ago.

Still done at some land borders

A TM30 for run of mill tourist is done by hotel and they can provide copy for immigration.

Is confusing.

They obtained a 30 day extension at immigration.

 

While there asked about doing a subsequent border bounce.

 

Clearly not up with TM30 requirement to make a 30 day extension. 

 

I asked where located as that would determine best option for border bounce. 

 

Most folk going to Cambodia use agent border runs.

The change at Nong Khai has been swift and sharp.

Dressing in slacks, and shirt, and shoes will get you further than dressed like a back-backer.  In the past, I always crossed the border in "Business Casual" attire. In fact, anytime I go to Immigration, it's dressed like this. Interesting story, but when I flew from LAX to BKK back in the day, I was flying economy, but they bumped me to Business Class for free.  Why?  I was dressed for it.  Perceptions. They can work in your favor.
