UK Marriage certificate not accepted

Today, Pattaya Immigration refused to accept the original of our marriage certificate which they have previously accepted for many years.

Another new requirement I guess. They want me to get a certified copy from the British consulate in Bangkok.

I don't want to go to Bangkok even if the consulate will certify it there as my health limits my mobility.

Anyone else had this problem? Suggestions welcome.

Mine was accepted back in November, but in Bangkok, as it has been for the previous 9 years.  Was your certificate legalised in the UK and certified by the Thai Embassy in London?  We had to do this before we could use it, but that was 9 years ago!

No, I never certified it in London but it was always accepted here.

If the consulate in Bangkok cannot certify it I guess the other possibility is to use an agent.

Strange that suddenly they need it.

 

Here is the link for getting any UK issued document legalised.  It has to be done by the Legalisation Office in Milton Keynes. If you ask them, they will then forward it on to the Thai Embassy in London for their stamp.  Can be done through an agent if you're in Thailand, or by a family member/friend in the UK.  Ours took around 3 weeks to get done.

It has been a requirement to have a marriage to a thai from abroad registered at the local Amphur (where you get a Kor Ror 22 form) for a number of years.
AND
Sadly now that the brit embassy doesn't certify marriage certificates anymore you do send it to Milton Keynes, get them to stamp it then get it to the Thai Embassy in London to get it stamped there.. and after that you can register the marriage at the local Amphur to get the Kor Ror 22 (marriage of a thai abroad) form

There are “people”” organizations “ who will do it for you I live in the North and needed some documents certified by the Australian Embassy and someThai Dept in order to get my House book and ID card several years ago

Fom memory wasn’t expensive need to google to find the names.

In my case, I have a foreign wife so usually she piggy-backs on my 800,000 THB with proof that she is my wife.

The certified copy that Immigration now require will take longer to get (see above) than our current extension expiry date so tomorrow I will go to a local agent who can fix this problem.

(This time I didn't enter into negotiations with the IO)
