Dramatic footage has captured the moment an air-conditioned bus on route 167 lost control and crashed into a power pole support cable, causing its front wheels to lift over three metres off the ground. The crash occurred near the Maihai Sawan intersection in Bangkok’s Thonburi district as the bright orange bus, travelling between Rama II Housing Estate and Lumpini Park, approached Somdet Phra Chao Taksin Road. Traffic police from Bukkhalo Police Station responded to the scene and found the bus’s front wheels suspended in the air, with its left-side mirror hooked onto the thick steel cable securing a electricity pole. Fortunately, no serious injuries or fatalities were reported. The bus driver, identified as 34-year-old Ms. Apinya explained that she had been driving down from the Krungthep Bridge and was navigating a curve towards Chom Thong Road when she suddenly encountered an oil slick. “The front wheels lost grip and the bus swerved uncontrollably, crashing into the cable. If I had tried to steer in another direction, it could have been much worse,” she stated, adding that only three passengers were on board at the time. Following the incident, a Facebook user uploaded dashcam footage of the crash, showing the moment the bus lost control and lifted into the air. The video has since gained over 170,000 views, with many viewers commenting on the driver’s quick thinking in preventing a more serious incident. Authorities are now investigating the cause of the oil spill, while efforts are underway to ensure the road remains safe for other motorists. -- 2025-02-12 1 1

Tropicalevo Posted yesterday at 04:30 AM Posted yesterday at 04:30 AM That is an impressive incident. And, no one was injured. The mirror must be very strong in order to take the weight of the bus. 1

She had just come round a left hand slip lane and the oil slick that she referred to is clearly visible in the video. 3 1 2
