Gandtee Posted yesterday at 03:34 AM Posted yesterday at 03:34 AM Back in the 1940s when I was a kid in England we used to drink Camp coffee with chicory. Is there an equivalent in Thailand? I see imported Camp coffee online. 1

John49 Posted yesterday at 04:59 AM Posted yesterday at 04:59 AM Camp coffee tastes good - but too sweet last time I tried it - threw it out. Like having 2 teaspoons of sugar in your coffee, when you only need one. Good if they had a no sugar or less sugar variety - after all, I think it comes without milk?

Hickory Cafe @ Hua Hin closed ... only one I noticed serving. https://www.google.com/maps/place/Hickory+Cafe/@12.5968097,99.9553386,54a,11.2y/data=!3m8!1e2!3m6!1sAF1QipM47WEsxiNI8M-yMdA2E8DXC0Kjxu-zn9q15Z5W!2e10!3e12!6shttps:%2F%2Flh5.googleusercontent.com%2Fp%2FAF1QipM47WEsxiNI8M-yMdA2E8DXC0Kjxu-zn9q15Z5W%3Dw203-h304-k-no!7i4000!8i6000!4m17!1m9!3m8!1s0x30fdab7fed0c05c5:0x5390b2a10d584c1a!2sHickory+Cafe!8m2!3d12.5973553!4d99.9551084!9m1!1b1!16s%2Fg%2F11j53n1ts9!3m6!1s0x30fdab7fed0c05c5:0x5390b2a10d584c1a!8m2!3d12.5973553!4d99.9551084!10e5!16s%2Fg%2F11j53n1ts9?entry=ttu&g_ep=EgoyMDI1MDIwOS4wIKXMDSoASAFQAw%3D%3D

I remember finding that bottle in the kitchen cupboard when I was 5 years old and asking my mother what it was, she told me it was what people could get to drink when there was rationing and I wouldn’t like it. 2

Iron Tongue Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago Chicory has always been added to "stretch" coffee, or even completely replace it, especially during wars. I can see how it was popular during the WWII years. The Russians drink a lot of it and you can find literally dozens of chicory drinks and "coffees" for sale on Lazada.
bendejo Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago I don't know about availability outside the country, but there is a US coffee with chicory called French Market, another is Cafe du Monde. Haven't had it in ages. My guess is some very large food processing company has bought the names.
proton Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago We had this in the 60's absolute muck, replaced by Nescafe
