Thailand is like sponge cake. It is nice but no depth to it like mud cake. I need to find a mud cake country.

Below the icing sugar what is there? Just sponge.

depth comes from you, not from your surroundings, a drunk who lies on his back in the gutter can still be in awe of the stars.

It's what you make out of it.

Good luck. When you've found your paradise give us a report🤗

Now 83, I retired to Thailand in1993 having lived and worked in Europe, the Middle East, West Africa and East Asia. Thailand, while far from perfect, is a good place to live by comparison with most other countries. Friendly people, good food and warm weather.

As to your reference to a lack of 'soul', you will generally not find it unless you form a close relationship with a Thai person. Thais are not habitually demonstrative in that regard.

Sounds like you need to do something deep, have you tried Iran?

This English couple are having a great time in Iran. It may be more to your liking.   :stoner:
