" Irish people don't like British people ."  Don't you mean the English maybe because of their history with the Irish Republic?

Their is no dislike with the Irish and Scottish.

Are they the only people that carry the hatred for over 100 years ?

They weren't even born and neither were their Grandparents  ?

Are there any other peoples where the hatred is carried on from generation to generation ?

10,mill of cover, ain't you the lucky one.

You try getting a policy on a state pension, even worst. With previous ailments.Yeah I know what are we doing in Thailand with only a state pension,I ask you why not?We are just as entitled as you millionaire lot,are we not,if not why not.

I am 78 years old and on a state pension which is probably less than yours but I put money aside to pay for my travel insurance which all comes out of my state pension.

And just to enlighten you it is known as managing one’s money to achieve the things one wants in life without denigrating others or being a burden to others, ( you millionaire lot indeed ) and as for entitlement, some of us get off our fat A’s and do, but other just find it easier to do nothing more than bitch about their self created lot, if you want better you should DO better.

Indian air is revolting, as is Thailand's for half the year.  I dare anyone to catch a taxi from Kolkata airport to CBD and not go mad.

That said, insurance companies can SUCK IT.

If aq tourist of any age does not have enough medical insurance coverage for their trips abroad, God help them because I cannot afford to.

My dedical bill for having a heart attack and spending 6 days in a private hospital. St. Louis, cost SMIG, my medical insurance company in Thailand

almost 400 thousand baht. just getting a stint installed cost 90 thousand baht. DO NOT travel to anywhere in Asia or the world without

getting covered.

Why do I think this is deja vu all over again , hope I spelt that right ....

Almost right, but probably the best one can do with a UK or US keyboard without knowing the workarounds for é and à. I have it easier with my Italian keyboard.

She did have travel insurance. It didn't cover her condition. Why not? Don't know what you call 'decent', but I took out 'decent' insurance cover for a month in 2023 and it cost me $500 Australian for a month. I opted for a cheaper policy last year, because $500 (I was 70 but in good health) is too much on top of airfares, accommodation etc. I opted for a cheaper policy last time - probably not so decent. Insurance costs for everything are just absurd, particularly something 'decent'. Problem with insurance is you really only find out how 'decent' it is when you make a claim.

Travel the world, some to exotic countries. No need to take precautions, even if you are elderly. No need to ensure that you have proper medical insurance cover. If you get ill or have an accident, just beg through gofundmesomethingorother

I can almost Guarantee they purchased the cheapest travel insurance policy possible, if they purchased one at all. Likely they only had baggage insurance or trip protection with no medical

Stop speculating.

Some people shouldn't travel if you can't afford a reliable and decent insurance company then stay home the British are the number 1 race that jump straight onto the gofundme to get money and it seems to work quite well... But saying that it's also a great way to have other people pay for your entire trip sorry but I won't be donating any money.

Perhaps you can tell us the companies to avoid.

How about they explain WHY the travel insurance won't cover them. Why should they rely on the graciousness of others for their plight? Do they have investment funds - if so, liquidate them. Own property - mortgage it.

Every day it is someone looking for money from others to cover their medical costs.

That is what is missing from the story - why was their cover not honoured? That's a big chunk of information that is really required to make a decision regarding their situation.

Do you have any idea how insurance companies pay for medical care for old patients?

A lot!

I understand that you don't want to pay 500$ for insurance. But that is still better than 5,000$ or 50,000$ for medical expenses out of your own pocket.

If people can't afford that, then they shouldn't travel.

With their travel insurance failing to cover the necessary treatments

Missing is the reason why it is not covered.

Exactly - contracting an illness or an injury while overseas is at the very core of travel insurance.

So, IF they had cover - why did the company not cover there costs - this story really needs that reason....

... this could either be terrible treatment by the insurance company wiggling out of payment.

Or... it could be a  big lie that they had the insurance at all....

Or... they thought they had insurance because they have a credit card that claims they offer insurnace etc (but usually only if you buy the holiday though them etc).

Or... pre-existing condition ??  she had tonsillitis 25 years ago and they found out ?
