Just want to know if you should buy an onward flight out of thailand within 60 days or it should be fine within 90 days as there is the possibility to extend 60 days for another 30 days at the local immigration. This is regarding come to thailand with a tourist visa 60 days or free 60 days exemption

I would also need to understand how many flights you should buy in case you want to apply for a METV. One ticket from your country or residence to thailand and then another flight from thailand to another asian country? What else?

It's not a visa.

You are flying visa exempt entry.

The airline at departure may require onward flight.

Best option is within 60 days however recent posts indicate that within 90 would be possible by explaining intention to obtain 30 day extension.

The METV would be an eVisa application. You will provide what's required in that application.

Most likely flight into Thailand.

Flight out within 60 and perhaps some accommodation details upon entry.

Best to outline how long you plan to stay in Thailand for best advice.

The airline company told me to ask the embassy haha

9 months or up to 1 year

For a 12 month stay in Thailand I suggest a METV would be good option.

That will cover up to 9 months and then border bounce for visa exempt entry using border run company can extent the stay

So, if i get 6 months METV i can apply for 30 days extension at my local immigration every 60 days i will do a border run? And then i could do more border run when the METV will finish?

METV allows multiple entries.

You are stamped in for 60 days.

You can apply for 30 day extension each entry.

By exit and reenter just prior to expiry of METV you would be stamped in for 60.

Then can extend by 30.

Hence 9 months.

After that a border run for 60 which can be extended by 30

Only one more border run i could do after that?

Yes however 100% do not do border run without using minivan agent.

Bangkok/Pattaya to Cambodia good option.

Keep up to date with reports closer to time you need it

great, thanks for the info. However, there is something not clear on how many ticket flights i should buy as i will have to upload it on the e-visa application, for the embassy. They want to see one ticket from my country to thailand, one ticket exit thailand within 60 days, one ticket to thailand again and another one out of thailand within 6 months. It should be like that?

When you select "multiple" there's a little warning that says you need to justify the multiple entries.  It has been reported from many embassies that means you must show a flight into Thailand, a flight out of Thailand within 60 days, and then another flight into Thailand.  This shows the reason you need multiple entries.  Without showing the intent to enter multiple times, the embassy might instead issue a single entry visa and you would lose the difference in price.

Normally don't need to show a 2nd exit, just 2 entries.

It's fine to buy an onward ticket with 48 hours validity? Or better to extend the validity more than 48 hours? As I might show it to the thai immigration at the arrival and not only to the airline at the check in prior to the departure from my country

I got a METV from London last year. Only provided one flight in and one flight out. You have 6 months to re enter Thailand for the last time from the day the visa is issued so if you want to max out your stay do not apply too early.

I made that mistake so went to Vietnam for a while after expiry of METV and got a SETV (probably not needed but I am cautious) Flew back to Thailand this week, no problems.

Validity is more important for the airline than immigration.  But what kind of travel are you doing that will take more than 48 hours so it's valid for both? I thought the 30 hour trips from the US were bad...

Realistically neither will check it. If they ask for it they will glance at it and accept it at face value.

That's exactly what will happen.

Airline and immigration will only be interested in eVisa hard copy.

I think an onward ticket of 48 hours validity should be fine

Do I have to show 10000 THB cash at the immigration arrival or I could show it on my Thai bank application on my phone? And I will also show an onward ticket on my phone, to the check in staff at the airport prior the departure and to the immigration when I will arrive in Thailand

This in case I might come without visa obviously. But the metv sounds really interesting and I am considering it more than come without visa . I could stay up to one year with a metv

If you apply for a METV and get it on, say, 1st Jan it will be valid until 1st July. If you enter Thailand on 2nd Jan you can do the 60 plus 30 leave and return stuff but if you time your last entry to just before expiry (30th June in this example) you will get a further 60 plus 30 giving you a total of 9 months.

If you obtain the visa on 1st Jan but do not travel until 1st Feb it will still have the same expiry of 1st July and you will lose one month of possible stay, hence do not apply too early if you wish to max out your stay.

Obviously my example is theoretical and you need to give yourself some leeway when applying

Very rare that immigration would want to see cash.

With a visa it wouldn't happen.

Bank application etc is useless.

Again with a visa this would not be required.

Visa exempt the airline at departure may require onward flight.

Unlikely immigration on arrival would ask to see onward flight

You are asking about METV vs Visa Exempt.

Suggest decide on one option and limit your questions to that.

thanks for all the information. I will think better if come back without visa and buy an onward ticket or if come back with a METV (which it sounds interesting!)
