It's about time they start enforcing some kind of protection of the coral reefs here...but two iItalians snorkeling is nothing compared to what the longtailboat operators are doing...running propellers down into the corals and throwing Anchors on them etc. Breaking of pieces for fun.

I have taken part in some coral reef rehabilitation program as a volunteer in Malaysia and Indonesia not seen any project for that here yet. Even thought of initiating a project here in Thailand in collaboration with one ofnthese international groups as it's definately needed.

You didn't look very well then.

Unfortunately this problem is caused by the Thai people asking them for money. Lots of officials in Thailand are corrupt. Many want their 'hand in the till'.

  • Most tourists don't know they aren't supposed to be there.   If I was taken on a paid tour, I'd expect the tour guide to make sure everything was legal.

The open border policy, allowing tourists to stay for such a long time is destroying Thailand.   You do not see these type of visitors in Dubai, Malaysia, China, etc Would this tourist been

Well, i guess the massive amounts of trash dumped daily in the sea (plastics etc...)  doesn't count. Blame it all on (foreign) snorklers, Thais are good to go....

You would lose that bet big time. I have heard it, and much much worse( farang kuay for example) , so many times. But a lot more in the past (30/40 years ago) than now, not, in my opinion, because Thais have a more favorable attitude towards farang now , but because 40/50  years ago, there weren't that many of us around. They are used to seeing us all over the country, it's nothing noteworthy anymore. Their xenophobia is still there, just more under the surface.

Honestly, is it Xenophobia or the foreigners brought it upon themselves by their attitude and behavior? On a similar vibe, now Japanese & Australians (just to name a few) too are having enough of it (foreigners)!

When there is an influx of foreigners, it is inevitable the local lives are effected (not always positively, albeit some tend to think money is everything). Xenophobia ? :cheesy:

There's a significant minority of Muslims involved in or supporting terrorism, and that's all it takes because that's still a large number. Buddhist terrorists? Virtually none and that's the only acceptable number.

But I'm presuming you weren't drunk when you posted that...? 😜

What I said stands. Terrorists are a fraction of a percent of the whole population. No one knows how many terrorists there are in any race .I wouldn't think there are many Buddhists that are terrorists but many are hypocrites so one never knows.

Do you think I was born yesterday?Since you understand what Google is, you should google what people sponsor terrorism, as it isn't only Muslims.

You might as well have been born yesterday given your lack of understanding of statistics.

Assuming is a big thing here, and you just joined the club. Actually thinking you know what others do from a few posts is outright ignorance. It's always best to restrain yourself first before you post, as it can make you look not only judgemental but stupid. There are other countries besides Muslim that have terrorists, and it doesn't include their whole population but a fraction of it.............https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/State_Sponsors_of_Terrorism_(U.S._list)

Have you ever been to Benidorm? Quite literally the worst place on earth. Thailand has some areas that are fast resembling it. Just British council estate chavs, no attempt to get into local culture, walking around without tops, excessive alcohol and drugs, and the evening ended with mass violence.

Just ghastly.
