About 25% of Ukraine's population has fled, while Russia has lost just a few. It is better from a human standpoint, but not better from a strategic standpoint. And the there are the nukes... I think Zelenski should go back to Trump hat-in-hand, but as that could be seen as a will for Trump, the left won't have it. That's why they sabotaged the meeting to start with. The American left would rather see every Ukrainian dead and half of Europe flattened than to see a peace deal negotiated by Trump. Trump is not negotiating a "peace deal." He's trying to negotiate a business deal with both Russia and Ukraine. He thinks he's the best business deal-maker in the world, and that's how he goes about things like this. Trump has already set terms with Russia, which undoubtedly includes allowing them to keep all the land they've invaded and are now holding, and doesn't have anything to ensure their side of the bargain will be maintained after the initial phases. Trump wants Ukraine to pay him for the support we (the US) have given them so far and for any future support. As you know, he also wants Ukraine to give up the land Russia now occupies and give him rights to half of its mineral resources with very little assurance that Russia will stop trying to seize Ukranian land. It's all just another business deal for him, and after the deal is struck, he doesn't care anything about the other party. 1

I think Zelensky was ready to sign over the mineral rights until he read the entire "deal." It obviously was not assuring enough for him. That's why he said what he said in the White House. Also, Russia seems to be very willing to agree to the "deal." This to me means they would get everything they want. 1

"Not my decision to make" when asked a simple question, yet ready to spew all manner of nonsense you don't even have a vote on. Weak.

Interesting that you give a specific figure of 25% for Ukraine's population but only quote "while Russia has lost just a few"! Incredibly non factual reporting. Please try again with accurate figures and sources next time! (if possible!) 1

I don't think he saw the entire agreement until he got to Washington, DC. "Everything they want" is all the land they now occupy and probably a cessation or reduction of economic sanctions. Biden did not cut the support to Ukraine off. Trump has cut it off now. 1
Yellowtail Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Just now, WDSmart said: My opinion usually turns out to be fact. For example? Just now, WDSmart said: I don't think he saw the entire agreement until he got to Washington, DC. Ridiculous. Of course he saw it, it was agreed to by both sides before he ever got there. It went back and forth for two weeks. It was a signing ceremony. Just now, WDSmart said: "Everything they want" is all the land they now occupy and probably a cessation or reduction of economic sanctions. And you think funding a stalemate is going to wear Putin down to where he gives back everything to pre-2014 borders? Just now, WDSmart said: Biden did not cut the support to Ukraine off. Trump has cut it off now. Biden absolutely cut arms shipments to Ukraine when he took office. Biden also lifted sanctions on Russia, including the sanctions Trump had imposed on Russia.

MikeandDow Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Zelensky should remind Putin, trump and starmer of there broken promises of The Budapest Memorandum of 1994 https://policymemos.hks.harvard.edu/files/policymemos/files/2-23-22_ukraine-the_budapest_memo.pdf?m=1645824948 1
Stiddle Mump Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Got to give The Don a bit more time. Early days yet. Zelensky is caught between a rock and a hard place. The longer he stalls, the harder the squeezing will get. Sop Kier is just a script-reader. Should get his own country straight first.
