Many bar girls are in their 40's and 50's. Loi Kroh Road bars in Chiang Mai are full of them.

Traditionally, Thai men think any woman above 30 is too old. Many get cast out and become destitute for that reason.

OTOH, the French think women in their 40's are reaching their prime sexually.

I think the Bee Gees were 60s and 70s.

The Bee Gees were a musical group formed in 1958 by brothers Barry, Robin, and Maurice Gibb.

Well, Hua Hin is a one horse town.

Was in LK last Monday, it was packed out with young and attractive BGs.

Bit of a surprise really.

When looking for a piece of fluff, the age of the BG has never come into the equation, if you fancy it, that's enough for me, age doesn't matter. Many a good tune played on an old violin.

Surprises me as well.

I remember one time in TQ on Beach Road, back 25 years ago, there was a girl dancing during the day that was supposedly 49. She didn't look it, though.

The prostitution  business has changed.  The cheap and filthy beer bars and their quasi brothel approach to the sex trade is stuck in the 1980's.  If a sex worker wants a quality trick, they rely on an app. They have better things to do than hang around tacky smoke filled beer bars pestered by unattractive elderly men.  Apps are more efficient and more profitable.  The younger sex workers prefer the apps. Many of the younger  workers have  other jobs too and can work part time.  Apps are good match for them.

Bintabaht is on life support and even in high season bars are more often  empty than full. Soi 80 is sometimes busy, but the average age of customers is  above 70 years.  The newer entertainment  development on soi 94 is a white elephant. Many bars, and many with few customers. Little parking, bad traffic and the air is  bad because of all the dust and debris from the construction. The people who work in these districts are hard core sex trade workers. They are the leftovers from a bygone era, servicing lower socio economic  tier farangs who are dying off.  The  beer bar districts as we know them will be gone in the next 10-20 years. Younger people don't want to go to them because they are dull, boring, dirty and  filled with creepy losers.

And the apps don't attract creepy losers?

I don't go into bars often, but when I walk by the women seem to be having fun sometimes being chatted up by the creeps and playing pool.

And the advantage of being in a bar is they can make additional money with drinks. Maybe some girls rely mostly on drinks and don't even go with customers that much.

Maybe the bars will disappear, but probably not. May be fewer of them ...

Apps are efficient and more appealing to the younger workers.

The women are having fun when the meter is running.  The stories are old, the johns are recycled and it's the same M.O.  day in, day out. You can't  really believ that the  bar workers are into the  customers. They are customers to be  milked for as much money as possible. They love them long time only as long as the money flows.

Barboys and bargirls are not likely to gain income from drinks. In Hua Hin, drink revenue usually goes to the pimp/barowner. It is not as if the bars  have issued  POS devices to the staff to allow for tracking of  orders. As it is, most of the bars still rely on writing paper  receipts for the  drinks. The receipts do not show  who gets the  credit for the order. Staff might be able to keep some tips, but usually, when the tip is put into the  payment book, the  tip money is sometimes kept by the bar manager and sometimes distributed to the workers. The only way a bar worker keeps a tip is when they are discreetly paid by the customer.
