Georgealbert Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago Picture from responders. A pregnant woman was killed in a road collision in Chonburi province after a six-wheeled lorry collided with a motorcycle carrying her family. The crash left her husband and two young daughters critically injured. The incident occurred at around 16:00 on 3 March, on Highway 331 (Chachoengsao–Sattahip) in Bang Lamung District, near a police checkpoint in Khao Mai Kaew. Police from Huai Yai Station and rescue teams from the Sawang Boriboon Foundation in Pattaya responded to the scene. At the crash site, a red Honda Wave motorcycle was found, with debris scattered across the road. Around 200 metres away, officers located a white six-wheeled Hino lorry with minor damage to its side. Rescue workers discovered three severely injured victims: • Mr. Warathip Saenear (31) suffered a deep head wound exposing the skull. • Min (4) was semi-conscious, with a broken right arm and multiple abrasions. • May (2) had abrasions and was crying uncontrollably. All three were rushed to Phatthamakun Hospital for emergency treatment. Miss Mone Khampaseuth (30), a Lao national and the children’s mother, was found dead at the scene. She was eight months pregnant, and the impact of the crash had torn the unborn from her body, ending about a metre away from her body. Witnesses were left in shock at the horrific sight. The lorry driver, Mr. Sonthana Sanguanrat (62), remained at the scene, visibly shaken. He admitted to police that he was returning to a factory after making a delivery in Chonburi when he suddenly lost consciousness. The lorry veered into the motorcycle, carrying the family of four, and ran over the pregnant woman. Eyewitness accounts corroborated this, stating that the family was riding normally when the lorry driver unexpectedly swerved into them, causing them to lose control. CCTV footage from a nearby motorcycle repair shop captured the crash in detail and will serve as crucial evidence in the case. Police have detained Mr. Sonthana for further questioning and are conducting a thorough investigation. Charges will be filed accordingly. -- 2025-03-04 3

Popular Post fredwiggy Posted 4 hours ago Popular Post Posted 4 hours ago Quite a few here suddenly lose consciousness during the daytime, which is pretty strange. Helmets wouldn't have saved the woman but her husband wouldn't have such a bad head wound, and traveling with 4 on a scooter, especially including a 2 year old, will continue to see such tragedies happen. Sad a family loses their mom and unborn to this daily carnage. 1 2

Absolutely horrific. It is sad to see the comments about riding motorbikes, wearing helmets and so on, but most Thai folk at this level are living hand to mouth. There is no spare cash for 'safety'. I have stopped buying motorcycle helmets for the staff - they just go and sell them the next day.
