So, Trump said "illegal protests" and the OP added (in typical leftist fashion) "what he terms".

Yeah, I got that part.

No he didn’t simply say ‘illegal protests’.

You obviously are able to defend what he did say, hence truncating it to two words.

Well, I guess it isn't up to him to determine what protests are illegal. It's funny (not really) how Trump supporters forget that the judiciary and judges rule on what's legal and what's not. It ain't Sunny Boy who gets to do that.

I don't get you. You are agreeing Trump said illiegal protests, but are taking issue with some other added words..

Do you think some protests are illegal?

If so, do you think people should be allowed to protest illegally?

You're post only had a two word quote.

So, what did he say? Did he say that he was going to withdraw federal funding from universities that allow what he terms illegal protests?

No, he did not say that.

Bring the quote. As always, you can't.

Here you go:

The courts have already decided on these types of protests.
The 1st gives you the right to protest but blocking a road isn't legal

You can protest but blocking the entrance to buildings, private or public isn't legal.

You can protest but its not legal to block a sidewalk as it impedes my passage.
and on and on.

But you certainly should know that already, don't you ?

Yes I do know there are activities that are themselves illegal.

And you are correct, the courts decide.

What funny (not really) that Trump-haters have to depend on lies.

Why lie? No one thinks it's up to Trump to decide what's legal and what's not.

Except for Trump himself.

From the OP:

Donald Trump has escalated his stance against pro-Palestinian demonstrations on college campuses, threatening to withdraw federal funding from universities that allow what he terms "illegal protests."”

They are illegal protests when they are occupying and barricading themselves on private property. Trump is correct.

And people do not have free speech everywhere. One does not have free speech rights in the workplace, in the classroom or any number of other places.

Which is not at issue.

The First Amendment does not say what protests are or are not permitted.

It does deny the Government, the President included the power to legislate or otherwise inhibit free speech.

Gitlow v. New York (1925)

The president is not attempting to inhibit free speech, nor is he trying to say what protests are or are not permitted.

He is only asking that existing law be enforced.

How is he trying to kill the first amendment by attempting to enforce existing law?

He has said nothing about disallowing legal protests.

Let’s play your game.

Do you have a quote of the President actually asking for exiting law to be enforced?

There’s no asking for exiting law to be enforced‘ in that statement, nor was there the last time you posted it.

There is nothing in the statement that makes protests illegal, as was your false claim.

Its not a game, its a fact. Note the "illegal protests" Trump refers to. That's exactly what they are in the OP. Enough of your dishonest debating

   Exiting, Exciting or existing ?

Take your pick.

Trump has not asked for the existing law to be enforced, and if he did that’s a request he needs to direct to the police and prosecutors.

Universities are not a part of law enforcement.

More deflection from the facts of the illegal protests taking place and the terrorist supporters celebrating the massacres of Oct 7th

So, universities should do nothing if MAGAs were beating up trans kids?

Why should Trump have to ask Universities to do anything ?

Its not Trumps job to deal with those issues
