A speeding pickup truck driver lost control on a bend and crashed into a high-voltage electric pole in Chachoengsao province, resulting in the deaths of the driver and a 14-year-old passenger. Two other teenage boys, who were seated in the back, sustained serious injuries. Authorities later discovered quantities of methamphetamine and ketamine in the driver’s possession.

The accident occurred at approximately 15:00 on 8 March, on Don Sinnon–Laem Pradu Road in Moo 4, Laem Pradu Subdistrict, Ban Pho District. Police Lieutenant Colonel Somsak Srinarong, an investigator from Ban Pho Police Station, responded to the scene alongside rescue personnel from Chachoengsao.

Upon arrival, emergency teams found two severely injured male teenagers, both aged 14, who had been seated in the rear of the white Isuzu four-door pickup truck registered in Bangkok. Rescue workers rushed them to Ban Pho Hospital for urgent medical attention.

Inside the wreckage, authorities discovered two fatalities. The driver was identified as Mr Tanakorn 44, while the other deceased victim, a 14-year-old boy, was seated in the front passenger seat. The bodies were extricated from the vehicle and later sent for further examination.

A search of Mr Tanakorn’s belongings uncovered three small plastic bags containing ketamine inside his right jeans pocket. Additionally, over 20 methamphetamine pills, wrapped in tissue paper, were found in another plastic bag in his left pocket. Another packet of ketamine was also discovered, leading authorities to seize the substances as evidence.

Initial investigations suggest that excessive speed was a key factor in the crash. The road leading to the crash site is a long straight stretch, but the vehicle lost control upon reaching a bend. Police suspect that either the driver failed to navigate the turn or may have fallen asleep at the wheel, as no skid marks were found on the road surface.

The bodies of the deceased have been transported to the hospital for further examination, while authorities continue their investigation into the incident.
