Efforts to Curb Youth E-Cigarette Use Warn Teachers of Legal Action

The Thai government has issued a firm warning to educators about tolerating the promotion or use of e-cigarettes among youths.

 

The Ministry of Education emphasised the need for school authorities to uphold strict anti-vaping measures, citing potential health hazards and legal repercussions.

 

Deputy Government Spokesman Karom Polpornklang stated that schools are obliged to ensure a vape-free environment, with disciplinary actions against violators.

 

This move supports existing regulations banning e-cigarette imports and establishing smoke-free zones in schools and public spaces.

 

Recent enforcement saw authorities seize over 900,000 e-cigarettes and related items valued at nearly 119 million baht, while prosecuting over 1,000 individuals.

 

Thailand's Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra has taken a strong stance against e-cigarettes, noting ongoing challenges such as cross-border smuggling and the proliferation of online sales.

 

Despite closing over 9,000 illegal sales channels, online access to vaping products remains an issue, reported Bangkok Post.

I am wondering which teacher is promoting using e cigarettes, drugs  and alcohol to the students. On the other hand teacher have the duty to inform kids about the dangers of smoking, drinking and drugs and gambling. But with the medieval education program, this kind of teaching is not done, same as education about sex. But the kids need to know and want to know and with no information they go and look for themselves, secretly and that is much worse. 

But the Government is chasing the e-cigarettes, but I don't read anything about the normal cigarettes which are much unhealthier, and I know that many teacher are smoking e cigarettes too.. But also policemen, military, government officials... So the Government is shouting things and they are not aware what is going on in the country

Is this vaping thing really so dangerous as the say, Idon't lnow as i've never vaped it wouldn't surprise me if it's the tobacco monopoly that tries to stop the vapinng ?

It can be dangerous, but less chance of lung cancer.

Just search 'is vaping dangerous'.

It is early days i n collecting statistics and information, and there are a lot more tobacco smokers than there are e-cig smokers so comparisons are difficult.

The real risk for e-cigs is that there are no controls on what is in the stuff that folk suck into their lungs.

Illegal drugs are a recent one.

Issue a firm warning to the police and customs officials... get off their arses and do your jobs.

I have absolutely no problem with children and youths say under 20 being banned from vaping as it is with cigarettes. Adults, however, should be free to do so. Reality is kids will still get their hands on vapes (if available) as they do cigs. Now that vape shops have been closed down and no one I know can get vapes online (despite what BP says) I'll guarantee cigarette sales have spiked considerably.

Here is a link about vaping, an interesting read.  I find it terrible that vaping is illegal, it has helped many people quit smoking.  The problem in Thailand is regulation of the liquid used.  There are many reputable companies making e-liquid, problem is, just like alcohol, some unscrupulous people sell tainted stuff.

Tax vapes and the liquid, but as already mentioned, the tobacco industry here does not want competition, there is no thought whatsoever regarding the health of people.
