I am on a retirement visa/extension.

I just returned from Roi Et, staying in hotel there for a less than a week.

Do I need to notify Immigration that I am back in Pattaya?

TM or similar?

It's the TM30 you are talking about.

I believe Jomtien does not require you to re-notify if you return from domestic travel. But you might not be able to file a TM-47 (90 day report) online if your most recent TM30 does not match your address that you file your report for, so it might be better to get a new TM30 if your landlord is registered online, since it will only take them a moment to update it.

From my recent experience,yes

there is a very busy dedicated desk

in the new building  desk number 10,

you have to qet a queue number first  fill in the form and have proof of where you stay  for example the housebook and Id of the landlord, there is no fee.

Not in Sukhothai,

Only when you leave the country and come back.

What's that got to do with the specific question about Pattaya?

For Jomtien!

If on a retirement Extension whether traveling domestic or International

Returning to SAME address do not need to file a new TM30.

If domestic 90 day report can still be done online.

If International, your next 90 report must be done in person.

Out of curiosity, does an international trip restart the 90 day clock?  Or is it 90 days from your last 90 day report?

OP, it's hit and miss and depends on immigration office.

Even then each immigration office can change from day to day.

There may be an issue with online 90 reporting if you don't make a new TM30.

One option is to skip it and do your TM47 via mail.

I'll be in a similar position as the OP. I'll be going up country for 4 nights, staying in a hotel, then driving back to Bangkok. Can I just ignore the few days away within Thailand, and just report TM47 in-person at CW with existing TM30? (I would bring the receipt from the hotel in case an IO at the reporting desk gets too inquisitive). Do you think that would be okay, or do I really need my landlord to file a new TM30? The one I have now expires in 2027 and is indicated on the TM30 as such...

Cheers

I also deal with CW.

Just my experience....you will just need the TM47 form and at worst photocopy of photo page.

If you have most recent TM47 receipt then have that.

Most likely not required.

You do realize that you can do it via mail. Why waste half a day +

Make an appointment is very good option for in person report.

Here is link to immigration guidelines for the 3 options for 90 report.

Thanks - so no need to report the 4 nights in a Thai hotel?

No. That's a TM30 gig.

You mention report in person and I added report via mail. No issue.

Report online may hit snag. May not.

The system imo is broken.

You can give online 90 report 2 weeks prior to due date and if no approval leaves you plenty of time for in person.

Folk should be aware that for reporting via mail should be done 2 weeks prior to due date.

You must physically be "IN COUNTRY" 90 straight days.

( Most offices and online you can do 5 to 14+ days early)

It's simple: 90 day report is required for stay over 90 (continuous) days in Thailand.

If you exit Thailand then the count (clock) starts again when you reenter.

Date of entry is Day 1 of count.

I highly recommend using a Thai drivers license if you can. They aren't linked to the TM30 system.  If the hotel asks you for your passport, just tell them immigration has it. This has been working for me for some time now.

This is good information.

I showed the hotel receptionist my Thai drivers licence, she asked for my passport, I should have refused and told her as you said.

People have been suggesting/using DTL for ages.

Fact is the Hotel is required to do a TM30.

For example:  My 90 day report was Feb 17th,  which I did not do!  I left for the U.S. Feb 15th, I returned March 2nd, my reset 90 days report will be June 2nd, 15 days before or 7 days after, which I have to do in person at Jomtien there after I will be able to do it again online.

I use a license that has my old passport number. Been working like a charm.

And it's not like I'm trying to perform an illegal act. I just grow weary of the BS TM30 that IS required in some immigration offices and ISN'T in others, demonstrating that it IS a BS policy.

It cannot hurt to refile your TM30.

If I could do it online, I'd be happy to comply. Chanthaburi insists on a visit to their office.

That's not guaranteed to work, as the online TM30 nowadays only requires information that can be found on your Thai driving license. So they could file a TM30 notification for you even if you don't give them your passport.

Everything thing was fine after the changes to TM30 requirements were made, as outlined in this attached thread....

Then some genius came up with notion to sync TM30 with online 90 day reporting.

Now it's a big mess.

Okay but since you wrote that you "highly recommend" using a Thai driving license to avoid the TM30 issue, those who might be inclined to follow your recommendation should be aware that it's not guaranteed to work. While it can certainly happen that your current Thai DL has your old passport number, that limits the usefulness of your workaround somewhat, and if the hotel accidentally files a TM30 notification under your old passport number, that in itself could have interesting consequences.
