Two Brothers Arrested for Stabbing Neighbour to Death in Sakhon Nakhon
Picture courtesy of Matichon. Two brothers have been arrested in Sakhon Nakhon after allegedly stabbing their 74-year-old neighbour to death in what they claim was an act of self-defence. The incident occurred in Non Rang village, Bong Tai sub-district, Sawang Daen Din district. According to reports, the suspects, identified as 44-year-old Suthep and 41-year-old Krungchon, entered the victim’s home armed with a five-inch kitchen knife and a wooden club. The victim, Thongin, sustained severe injuries to his head, face, and chest. Following the attack, the suspects took the victim’s shotgun and barricaded themselves in their home across the street. Police, led by Pol. Col. Chatchawan Duangkaew, surrounded the suspects’ residence and persuaded their mother, Pornchai, to assist in negotiations. After some resistance, officers managed to subdue the brothers and take them into custody. During questioning, the suspects claimed that Thongin had first fired a shotgun at them during a dispute over property damage. Suthep alleged that he was defending his mother, whom the victim had threatened. However, the victim’s granddaughter, Ann refuted their claims, stating that the two brothers had a long history of violent behaviour and had often harassed her grandfather. Authorities later recovered the victim’s shotgun from a pond behind the suspects’ house, along with the knife used in the attack. The suspects, both of whom appeared intoxicated during their arrest, provided conflicting statements. While Suthep denied using illegal drugs apart from cannabis, Krungchon admitted to drug use. Witnesses in the village confirmed that the families had longstanding disputes. Both men are now in police custody and have been charged with homicide and drug-related offences. Investigations are ongoing. -- 2025-03-21 -

Lithuanian Killed After Tree Branch Falls on Motorbike in Phuket
Picture from responders. A Lithuanian lost his life in an accident after a falling pine tree branch struck him while he was riding his motorbike along a beach road in Phuket. At approximately 11:30 on 20 March, the Sakhu Police Beach Patrol was on duty near Nai Thon Beach, Moo 4, Sakhu Subdistrict, Thalang District, when they were alerted by locals to the incident. Upon arrival, officers discovered the foreign tourist lying motionless on the road, having been struck by a large broken tree branch while riding his motorbike. Emergency services were immediately called, and the incident was reported to Police Colonel Salan Santisasnakul, Superintendent of Sakhu Police Station, and Investigation Officer Police Captain Wisanu Chalok. Further investigation at the scene confirmed that the deceased was Arijus Norkus, a 43-year-old Lithuanian national. His blue Honda PCX motorbike was found damaged and overturned at the roadside. Eyewitnesses reported that Mr Norkus had been riding along the road when the branch suddenly snapped and fell directly onto his head. The impact shattered his helmet and caused a fatal skull fracture, resulting in his immediate death at the scene. Police worked alongside medical examiners to document the scene, conduct a forensic examination, and take photographs for official records. The Lithuanian Embassy in Thailand has been informed, and efforts are underway to contact Mr Norkus’s family. -- 2025-03-21 -
