An incident occurred early morning on 19 March, when a bridge collapsed on Highway 4217, between Chanae and Si Sakhon, in Chang Phueak subdistrict, Chanae district, Narathiwat. The collapse caused a pickup truck and a motorcycle to drive into the collapsed structure, resulting in one fatality and three injuries.

The collapse took place at approximately 05:45. The village head of Moo 4, along with local residents, rushed to the scene in shock, after reports of the bridge’s structural failure. Emergency services were swiftly deployed to assist those injured, who were transported to hospital for urgent medical care.

A drone was used to view the collapse and recorded the moments the pickup plunged into the collapsed structure, with the debris and possibly the driver being thrown through the windscreen on impact.

Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the collapse to determine whether it was due to structural weakness, weather conditions, or other contributing factors.

Donyou know how many bridges collapse yearly in the US? I get you dont.

Last bridge collapse in Dresden Germany blocking shipment. Czechoslovakia cut off from ship cargo.

In the run down capitol Berlin an important freeway bridge closed in time. Chaos expected. Multiple other bridges under close watch.

Well I would not be so arrogant when I see all the accidents occurring in the States due to lack of maintenance, bridges, railway, Boeing 737 MAX, etc…

The video shows the pickup driver being fatally catapulted through the windscreem. Does not seem to  have worn a seat belt so any airbag deployment would not, alone, have prevented ejection.

So they knew the collapse had happened - that's why the drone was up there recording it - yet there was nothing to prevent a truck coming along and crashing down into the collapsed structure???

You can even see someone walking around at the crash site after the truck has crashed into the bottom part of the bridge. Unless that person just arrived there, they really should have put some warning signs in front of the collapsed bridge.

I got that impression too... the drone was videoing the bridge yet it hadn't been closed?

I think that may well have been the motorcyclist that they mentioned had also crashed.

True. That thought had crossed my mind too.

How does one maintain concrete.?

It is not just concrete that the bridge is made of, but have you ever heard of concrete rot, the steal what used in concrete what can rust, especially in humid countries.

Had time to deploy the drone, but not to mark the bridge as closed... Priorities....

No I'm not an expert in this field, hence my question.

In the Netherlands now, many bridges are in poor condition due to lack of maintenance, huge amounts are collected from road tax but this is spent on all sorts of nonsensical things.
