No, those business owners will be pleased I would imagine.

If you are going to take the effort to post a sign banning Israelis they don’t want them obviously.

Other business owners might be disappointed but Thais usually don’t dwell to much

Even though I have not travelled Malaysia very well, I still have some impression, from my experience in the past.

Firstly, their food isn't so nice; Thailand is a lot better in eats(wider range of dishes and sweets).

One best thing about this kingdom is, even the low-end food is tasty and filling.

At local markets, I can pick up delicious light meal(steamed sticky rice and grilled chicken/ or pork on stick at THB15-).

 

Not in Malaysia.

  As it was Pai, its quite likely that the businesses were half foreign owned and the foreign owners were either Muslims or anti Semites and they just didn't want Jews in their shops

Thailand has a long history of tension with the bad behavior of Israeli tourists. Many bungalows and resorts soft-banned Israeli backpackers fresh from the army for being rude, arrogant, and insensitive.

it has just come around again this time fuelled by a different demographic escaping the conflicts.   

 

   I do seem to recall that it was just one coffee shop in Pai that had a "No Israeli" sign .

   Do you know who the owners of that shop were ?

Thais should be careful what they wish for, they never stop complaining about one nationality or the other, they can all walk away from Thailand, When covid they were crying on their knees and begging,

Longtime Pai locals likely got along just fine before any tourists to speak of ever showed up...i would bet they will also get along just fine if the tourist and the thais who showed up to hustle tourists all disappear as well. 

 

More people does not always equate with happier locals.  Ask the folks in Barcelona and Venice who liked the money until it became not worth the cost.
