Lorry Crashes into Power Poles and Bursts into Flames, Killing Driver in Saraburi
Picture from responders. A lorry driver was killed after his vehicle is believed to have suffered brake failure, crashed into high-voltage power poles, and burst into flames in Phra Phutthabat district, Saraburi. The accident occurred at approximately 12:30 on 25 March, at the Teen Non intersection on the Phra Lan–Ban Khrua Road, Moo 8, Huai Pa Wai subdistrict. Pol. Lt. Saman Phuwiphak, an investigator from Phra Phutthabat Police Station, was alerted to the incident and notified his superior, Pol. Col. Weerawut Damsuwan. Firefighters from Huai Pa Wai Municipality and rescue teams were dispatched to the scene. On arrival, emergency responders found a Mitsubishi lorry engulfed in flames. The vehicle was severely damaged after colliding with four high-voltage power poles, causing them to topple. The driver, identified as 59-year-old Mr. Suthep, from Dan Khun Thot, Nakhon Ratchasima, was trapped inside the cab and perished in the fire. Firefighters battled the blaze for approximately 20 minutes before bringing it under control. The fallen power poles blocked the road, forcing police to redirect traffic onto alternative routes. Rescue workers used cutting equipment to retrieve the victim’s burnt body, which was trapped under the collapsed power lines. Mr. Somphong, a 62-year-old noodle vendor near the scene, described the moment of impact. “I saw the lorry driving in the left lane alongside another lorry. As they approached a red light with several vehicles waiting, the lorry suddenly swerved left and crashed into the power poles. Within moments, there was an explosion, and flames erupted. I believe its brakes failed,” he recounted. Ms. Yeen, the 25-year-old niece of the deceased driver, stated that her uncle had been a lorry driver for over 20 years and had no known health conditions. He had been transporting stone from a quarry in Phra Lan subdistrict, Chalerm Phra Kiat district, to a concrete plant and was driving alone at the time of the crash. Pol. Lt. Saman confirmed that CCTV footage from the area had been collected, and eyewitnesses were being interviewed to determine the exact cause of the crash. The investigation is ongoing. -- 2025-03-26 -

Son Kills Father in Fit of Rage, Regrets His Actions and Seeks Redemption in Next Life
Picture courtesy of CH3 An incident unfolded in Nakhon Si Thammarat on March 25, when a 25-year-old man, identified as Donusorn, brutally killed his father with an axe during a heated argument at their home in the village of Kanabnak, Pak Phanang District. At approximately 12:00, authorities were alerted to a distressing scene at the family home, where they discovered the lifeless body of 47-year-old Saisan. The victim was found face down, surrounded by blood, with severe head and facial injuries. Donusorn, the only son of the deceased, was apprehended by police at the scene, where he was found holding the weapon used in the attack. The initial investigation revealed that Donusorn had been drinking alcohol with friends the previous night until nearly dawn. Upon returning home, he engaged in a violent argument with his father. In a fit of rage, Donusorn struck his father on the head with the axe, killing him instantly. Afterwards, Donusorn appeared to have a moment of remorse. He reportedly left the house and confided in a neighbour, admitting to the murder. The neighbour subsequently alerted local authorities and the body was soon discovered by police. Donusorn, who has a known history of drug involvement, initially gave contradictory statements to investigators but eventually explained that his outburst stemmed from the frequent arguments he had with his father. He confessed to feeling intense anger and, in his drunken state, lashed out, resulting in his father’s death. In a deeply remorseful statement, Donusorn expressed his regret, stating, “I am truly sorry for what I did. I hope in the next life we can be father and son again. I promise to be a better son.” Following the incident, police conducted a urine test on Donusorn, which revealed traces of drugs, leading to further charges for substance abuse in addition to the murder of his father. As investigations continue, authorities are working to clarify the exact circumstances surrounding the altercation. -- 2025-03-26
