Why do people move to Thailand to discuss politics so much?

Interesting... I followed the then, Thai Visa, news reports and some of the comments for a few years, when I was working and never bothered to join, as my spare time was limited. There were a few big characters / personalities posting in those days, who seem to have disappeared but there were a coupole of absolute clowns, argumentative, self absorbed and competely irrational, at best. Since I have retired and decided to join the AN forum (the wisdom of which, I am still weighing up) I have noticed distinct similarities with some of the afore mentioned clowns. Big Nok and Thailand Ryan used to ooze nigh on word for word and child like temperaments akin to Harrisfan. Could he be the reincarnation of the village idiot brigade or perhaps not, he does come across as very feminine and with a very low IQ.

You come across as a frustrated teenager who sounds like Frisco. Probably just a sad weak old man. Too pathetic to act tough in real life. KW.

I know it dissolved last year. I pointed out who the person was. It isn't what I'm interested in as I see politics here as corruption and it isn't worth my time. I'm not into politics in the US either, as I've watched and heard their lies and promises ever since Kennedy. Who said I'm so engaged with the Thai people? Having an ex wife who's Thai, a girlfriend who's Thai and a daughter who's half is my engagement, along with the daily interactions everyone has.That's my engagement, as it is for many other foreigners here.

If one enjoys a political discussion then I don't see any problem. The problem I see is when the OP isn't primarily about politics yet some insert a political comparison comment (mostly, I notice, from a USA view).

Because when I read posts from the high-volume MAGA squad and here, it helps me to realize I made a good decision in becoming a Thai recluse and hanging with (mostly female) Thai persons who maybe don't speak English and couldn't tell you the name of the current US President.
