Today I filed for tax at the tax office to prove my address i showed her my rental agreement. She said this has not got a stamp on it and will cost 0.1% of the yearly cost.I did not argue because it was not a lot of money but as anybody had the same happen to them

So we only need to pay 0.1% of our yearly rent to cover our income tax for the entire year.....Smashing baby......Where do I sign up....I will be first in line....

I wonder if other forms of proof of residence would be sufficient.

TM.47? TM.30? Drivers License? Utility bills? Bank correspondence?

I think Tax Stamps need to be affixed within 30 days of execution to "legalize" the document.

The run of "no tax paid" continues.

but in return, you get peace of mind knowing you follow the law, rules, and regulations.

you get a receipt, and for some of us, a nice bit of pocket money from the returning withholding tax ....

Can I ask how long did it take them to review you case

What 'law' are you referring to? I haven't read anywhere that says that we must file a return if we do not owe any tax. Thais certainly don't and we are governed by the same rules.

I also have 'peace of mind'. I know that I do not owe TRD any money and can prove it should I be called on to do so. So I'll not bother to waste my time or theirs.

the tax situation of each individual is different. the tax regulations specify the income threshold at which a tax declaration must be filed.

up until today, i haven't seen any written instructions from the trd stating that if no taxes are due, a tax declaration doesn't need to be submitted.

there are many reports, that a tax office employee verbally told that no tax declaration is required, but a requests for written confirmation were denied ...

everyone must decide for themselves what to do ...

for my daughter and wife (both holding thai passports), after just 4 days (early january),

the withholding tax was directly transferred to their prompt pay bank account!

my case this year was a bit more complicated, i had to submit additional documents.

after clearing up the uncertainties, it took about 10 days until i received the check in the post mail ...

(btw, we've all been doing tax refunds for over 10 years ... and this for a good reason )

I guess the somchais at tax office are waking up to the fact that they can make money off of the falang numbnuts who are very eager to pay tax and don't take no for an answer.

I went to tax office last week. I only have "income" from funds remitted. Didn't remit any in 2024. Was sent away with

"no income", no tax payable".

They didn't want me to file a form. I have no idea if this is correct. But obviously can't force them. This was in Bkk, Timesquare Bldg.
