Calling Chiang Mai Bikers

Howdy all,

I'm leaving Chiang Mai for a while and have been trying to sell my two beautiful, well-maintained Benelli motorcycles (naked 300 and a TRK 502 tourer). There hasn't been much reaction thus far, so my plan B is to put them into storage until I return. I’ll either try selling them again at the start of next high season or consider part-exchanging them when I upgrade to a new bike.

Before I do that, though, does anyone know of any better places to attract biker's attention in CM other than Facebook Marketplace or Baht & Sold? I've probably covered my bases, but it never hurts to ask, just in case.

Cheers,

Stubby

Facebook Marketplace is probably the most distrusted site in the country, so many people getting ripped off by them. Craigslist is almost defunct and no one seems to use it. If I was you I would give Kaidee a try,  it is pretty good for cars and miscellaneous items, certainly better coverage than most.

Kaidee | Leading online marketplace platform in Thailand (sorry, I don't know how to paste a link here - just look up Kaidee"

Thanks for that, I'll take a look.

As for Facebook Marketplace, I have heard it can be a tad dodgy for some products and services. However, I have bought three motorcycles from the platform over the past few years, and experience was a positive one. I have heard a few less than positive stories, though, so perhaps I've just been lucky.

There is also the Buy and Sell Marketplace here on Aseannow.

Thanks. I know there used to be but it closed. I wasn't aware it was back up and running. I'll take a look

So far, I've had a total of seven people interested in the bike, five from FB groups, and 2 from Baht Sold (no response from the others in the first list). So it looks as though FB marketplaces get the most eyeballs.

The first question six of the interested parties asked is how much can I reduce the bike by without even viewing it. One buyer dropped out at the last minute, saying it would lose too much value if he decides to sell it on in a few years. I don't blame people asking for discounts, as I also try to negotiate with every bike I buy. I don't always succeed, but I always try. But it's still only a 35K bike, and in pristine condition. Heck, I've probably spent that on upgrades.

It looks as though this beauty might end up in storage until I return.

Just out or curiosity, I'd be interested to know what my fellow bikers think about the price? You can view the details here (scroll down to the second ad):

Ive got the SAME bike, its been up for sale locally for over a year! I think its one of those bikes that you just buy to keep.

Mine is a 2017 nowhere near the example yours is but it is younger and only 9k km

Cant even get 30 for it.
